Pocahontas was maybe around 12 when she met John Smith. She was captured and held for ransom by the English, and Kocoum was killed during that time. Pocahontas was raped by her captors, yet she somehow during that time converted to Christianity. She was used as a pawn by John Smith and others to try to get the crown to invest in Jamestown by exploiting her perceived exotic nature and using the story of how she saved John Smith's life (which apparently might be completely false) to pique interest. She married a tobacco farmer, went to England, and died there. Her grave is unmarked and forgotten. White people (my ancestors, and probably yours) of various nationalities obliterated…
Me: this movie is so boring
Pocahontas: have you ever-
Me: HEARD THE WOLF CRY TO THE BLUE CORN MOON OR ASKED THE GRINNING BOBCAT WHY HE GRINNED CAN YOU SING WITH ALL THE VOICES OF THE MOUNTAINS CAN YOU PAINT!! WITH ALL THE COLOURS!!! OF THE WIND!!!!!!!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
there is no fucking way that christian bale voiced that skinny ginger kid i won't believe it
Perhaps I treated Ralph Breaks the Internet too harshly. It may be the best Disney movie with Pocahontas in it
the ethical dilemma of this being my favourite film from childhood vs now knowing how problematic it is 😪
I'm losing my mind over the visuals. Imagine if even like one hour of research had gone into this it would have been a masterpiece
I can't believe it turned out the reason the colonists and natives fought was because both sides were racist
Equal parts boring and tasteless. Hilariously predictable. Borderline unwatchable if not for the good songs and pretty visuals. Otherwise, get this trash out of my face. How do you follow up Lion King with THIS
For how historically inaccurate this is, I still have love for the Pocahontas movie. The real life Pocahontas had an extremely sad life, which deserves accurate representation, just not from Disney. She’s always been my favorite princess since I was a young girl because she was the ONLY one who looked like me. It makes me so sad that there’s no representation of her in Disney stores or parks.
Hot take: Pocahontas has the best overall soundtrack out of any Disney film, fight me.
