Get a Divorce

A battered woman seeks solace from a priest, and he tells her to move with her family, including her husband. I know the Church has a long history of opposing divorce, but c'mon, blaming a house on a guy trying to murder his family with an axe, not to mention the dog, is going overboard. As is remaking a haunted house flick by adding seizure-inducing stroboscopic montages, more of a madman wielding an axe, an Indian burial ground, or torture chamber, or whatever, and, because they just remade "The Ring" (1998 and 2002), too, a ghost girl. The inclusion of the TV is probably part of the general derivativeness, as well. And, why not while you're at it cast Ryan Reynolds to do the same wise-cracking persona he always does before going crazy. At least it's shorter and better paced than the 1979 film--excising much of the original's needless first act of moving into the house and the picture's subsequent Catholicism and police investigation--but it's dreadful all the same.
