Indeed, (indeedn’t?) it’s a different film, an earlier Danish teen drama/horror flick and very wobbly cabin in the woods thriller. There is a tense gas station encounter, a near miss with the town weirdo, a montage of splashing in the lake: Midsommer is both accessible for horror beginners and lovingly cliche.
Sometimes tense with a spine tingling score, and at other times light-hearted with a pop-punk soundtrack, the movie springs off an I Know What You Did Last Summer narrative and…
