Video Nasties DPP List - The complete list of 72 banned in the UK by the BBFC, the first 39 where prosecuted under the Obscene Publications Act, the remaining 33 still banned and removed from video shops but never received a prosecution.
The movies, with a few exceptions like Possession '80 aren't likely to feature in many peoples faves lists here on Letterboxd, but they remain an interesting time piece on how tastes change. They're either so mild by todays standards people will be shocked they got banned, or contain themes not accepted by our standards today like animals being killed on film (e.g. Cannibal Holocaust) or excessive racial discrimination (e.g. Gestapo's Last Orgy).

For me they're a reminder of my youth spent visiting video shops & market stalls in the Greater Manchester area, searching for the pre-cert tapes. When I finally found the films which I managed for all but an handful, I'd watch as a kind of modern bravery test.
I'm currently re-watching the VN1 set in random order, so expect to see reviews and ratings for them sooner or later. And I'll also create a VN2 list that was created by UK's Darkside magazine, containing movies that became rare and oop (out of print) due to their distributer's fearing it pointless to even submit movies for certification.
Enjoy you sickos.... theNomad
