A surprisingly effective slasher that’s definitely of quality. But good luck finding a watchable version of the film that’s of equal quality. I rented it on Prime, and despite a standard definition DVD transfer, it was the oddly high price of $5.99. Even stranger, the entire film was stretched on the top and bottom, turning a 2.35:1 aspect ratio into 16:9. I could only stand that for about 5 minutes before I eventually found it elsewhere with worse quality but at least the correct aspect ratio.
The setup feels a bit routine, but once the thrills start they don’t stop. The location does tons of the work. A very creepy lodge/hotel in the middle of the snowy mountains. And our…
i mean yes it’s nothing special but i had a good time and loved the setting & atmosphere so i thought it was pretty cool overall
AAAARGGHH SHITTT I LOVE THIS TRILOGY SO MUCH!!! Back on 9th grade, I watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), and made me crave some more slashers!!! I stumbled upon this movie and gave it a try and what do you know?!?! I FUCKING LOVED IT!!!
fun, pure slasher, survive the beast, and cool !
I’m suprised the majority of my mutuals have not seen this, This is a fun slasher! I MEAN IT. please give this a watch. This slasher deserves more appreciation, Why?
It’s got excellent KILLS.
AND OMG ONE OF MY FAV iconic FINAL GIRL.
A VERY Interesting PLOT (for a slasher).
Loveable CHARACTERS.
Fucking huge & intimidating KILLER.
Effective BACKWOODS SETTING.
I FUCKING LOVE THIS TRILOGY. I rewatched this today because…
A trip to the mountains doesn't go as planned for a group of friends in this Norwegian slasher. Snow. Puppy love. Beautiful view. Snowboarding like your Shaun White. Hurt leg. Why doesn't cellphone service work in the snow? Maybe an old abandoned hotel in the middle of nowhere is a safe place to crash? Painkillers kill the pain. Super Glue? Cozy fire. The moment the power magically comes back on. An axe in the wrong hands is a scary thought. Alcohol usually leads to bad shit happening in slashers. Old photograph. Erotic touching. Blue balls. Yucky shower. I'm a fan of Ingunn's panties. She looks super sexy in them. Bloody locket. Lucky teddy bear. Footprints in the snow. Mikal's hoodie.…

I really thought this would be better. I’d had it on my own slashpick list for a while and almost chose it twice. It’s technically a franchise already and I’ve always thought there should be more snowy slashers. Alas, they didn’t really feel like it was worthy of launching a franchise. Credit to the Ice-cold killer with a bone 🦴to pick.⛏️ though
Degrees of Kevin Bacon: 2
1. Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and John Hurt in Hercules
2. John Hurt and Kevin Bacon in Jayne Mansfield’s Car
Love the aesthetic and atmosphere, it’s giving eerie and unsettling vibes, similar to Hostel and The Collection. Not a fan with the pacing though, it started off really slow to build the tension. Luckily, the harsh winter landscape and isolated hotel setting successfully creates a claustrophobic feeling that enhances the sense of being stranded.
While it’s not reinventing the genre, Cold Prey is still a fresh take for people who loves slasher/survival film with atmospheric feeling.
Snowbound Norweigan slasher that sticks closely to the formula but is effective in places. We focus on a bunch of youngsters that get holed up in an isolated hotel after one of them breaks their leg in a snowboarding accident. The film begins with some newsreel footage that give it an early 2000's torture porn feel, before some nice snow scenery. The majority of the film takes place indoors inside the isolated hotel, where it takes on a grimey green-grey feel which is much less aesthetically pleasing. The hotel really does feel like it's abandoned and in the middle of nowhere, which helps create the tension when the pick axe wielding maniac turns up. It's only a small cast of…
The characters pissed me off with their slow and dumb decisions, but overall the movie was good and I loved the ending
