I love so many things about this movie but for now I'll simply highlight Amitabh's commitment to leather, chest hair, and religious iconography.
A riotous Bollywood spectacular that brings it all: slapstick, absurd melodrama, and reels and reels of action-packed lunacy inbetween. It's all ludicrously convoluted, silly fun, but it's Rish Kapoor's heartfelt musical numbers that send this soaring. A 3-hour pageant, crammed with exuberant charm.
Universal mother Nirupa Roy... optometrists hate her, Sai Baba fans want to be her
When Amar, Akbar, and Anthony all sing their names, while in disguise, in the screwball finale.....that's the good stuff.
Amitabh Bachchan is simply one of the greatest stars of indian cinema. Just look at the ridiculous fights on this film? They don't try to be realistic, it wouldn't be as fun if they were.
It follows the Bollywood tradition of just creating a fun film. There may be some deeper level to it, but for me it was great comedy throughout. Shabana Azmi was mesmerizing as ever.
the definition of secularism, i think a certain PM would benefit from watching—*gunshot*
bachchan is bachchan there is not much to add...the true highlight for me will always be seeing pran and jeevan do their thing as kishanlal and robert (tumhaara baap, robert speaking!, the famously forgotten ice in the whisky, the bullet proof vests) they are just once in a lifetime actors (and arguably this isn’t even their best of the era)
god i have so many emotional things to say…so everyday in the fourth grade while i would get ready for school my dada would prep the dvd and have my favorite scene pulled up for me (robert begs for kishanlal mercy at the port) so i could watch it with breakfast…this film is home to some of my fondest memories…

Day 1 :- Amar Akbar Anthony
Greatest Theatrical Experience I've Ever Had.
Greatest Theatrical Experience doesn't mean audience were shouting throughout the film but it means the audience loving it to the core reacting perfectly for every fucking scene. Going into the theatre I saw a lot of people outside the screen I thought why are these many people outside ( my early thoughts were hardly 10 15 would be there ) then the usher opened the gate and everyone were rushing in, Me who wasn't expecting anything like this going in with those people thought who are these people why are they watching this seriously why ?? Got in started counting people I gave…
