A group of American tourists is traveling through Spain when two of them are murdered by a mysterious serial killer who removes an eyeball from every one of its victims. The tour presses on as the murders continue, with the travelers and the police trying to deduce which one of them is the killer.

Barcelona travel log giallo satire from Lenzi is ripe with whacky tourist characters, eyeball stabbings, twists galore, and some absurd dialogue shenanigans that were joyfully over the top for my 5 drinks in mood. Eyeball is pretty great... it might not be a top tier gialli for me but hell, it’s always entertaining—plus that poster is DOPE so 4 stars.

Take a shot every time you hear “Burlington” and you’ll be tipsy by the end of the movie - and completely wasted if you mistake the lead male’s name “Burton” for it too. There are plenty of bare boobs…
It's an Italian horror, so I thought for sure the killer was murdering people who put pineapple on their pizza.
First time watch for me. Not as nice looking as Lenzi's other giallos but perhaps a bit tighter and more engaging. Ines Pellegrini (Salo) basically steals the show because of her style and physicality. So many absurd plot points and reveals... not sure it even makes sense but fun ride. And the 88 Films Blu-ray is solid.
In my opinion, Lenzi's strength was in euro crime films. I love his contributions to the giallo and the cannibal genre but his direction shines with films like Violent Naples.

A red-gloved, red-raincoated killer hidden within our group of typical American tourists (Communists! You're all Communists!), plucking out eyeballs and leaving behind fresh bloody bodies at every stop. A sleazy mystery presented with that certain, I dunno, Lenzi charm for the odd. Lots of weird dialogue and dubs, some real brutal slash sessions (loved the theme park slaying - constant laughter and those ghoulish faces, perfect!), and plenty of unique characters that really stand out from the pack.
It's fun trying to figure out who the killer is among all the bad alibis, finger-pointing, and twisted backstories (I failed miserably ☹️). And even though the explanation given at the end was…

Although it features some lurid poster art, this mid-seventies giallo "lensed" by Umberto Lenzi is surprisingly accessible. The on-screen violence is relatively tame for the genre, and the plot unfolds as a straightforward murder mystery. There's none of the usual psycho-sexual dream fever logic; instead, broad-stroked characters each have motivations to potentially be the killer. The film takes a bold approach with a change of pace and location that sets it apart.
Gone are the gothic, single-location settings where all the murders typically happen. Instead, this is Agatha Christie on a "freakin' tourist bus" during a vacation in Barcelona. And honestly, that's probably the most illogical part of the film—why would anyone stay…
I liked this slasher film. The action never lets down and the film is incredibly light and humorous. There are of course pretty girls and misogynist men. The viewer is given a lot of red herrings and this enhances the fun still more. The Spanish locations are delightful and Umberto Lenzi displays his cinematic ability with swift and precise camera movements and editing. There are good killing scenes, particularly one in a funhouse. I guess you won't be able to find out who the killer is. Anyway the story does make sense but is of secondary importance for those who want to enjoy the film.
