Don't be alarmed if we ask for elaboration or more information. Once you get the corrections in, a moderator will review your app again and respond with a final verdict. Applications will be looked at as they come in. Two or more mods must review an application in order for any decision to be made.

Application Guidelines

Player Section
Name: Your name, what you go buy, whatever.
Journal: Your personal LJ. We really do need some kind of LJ we can reach you through, especially if you decline to give...
E-mail: Your email adress
IM Contact: your AIM/Yahoo/MSN/Whatever screen name.
Previous Characters: This is just for our reference.

Character Section
Name: The name of the character you wish to play.
Age: How old your character is.
Fandom: The fandom from which your character comes. If you are applying for a any kind of OC, please make a note of it in your application.

History: We will accept copy/pastes or links to Wikipedia or another information source, given that the source properly explains the canon and your character's own history. If you can't find a source, you will need to write this section up for yourself. Please be as detailed as possible. We ask for a minimum of four paragraphs if you choose to write it yourself or are apping an OC of any kind. For OCs, we would like to have a good idea of where your character comes from, where they have been, and how it's shaped their personality and behavior.
Canon Point: A chapter, volume, episode, etc. Basically, WHEN is your character coming from.
Appearance: Your character's appearance...please be as descriptive as possible, especially with OCs. You may also link to an image, but be sure to mention any differences between the image and your character, should there be any.
Personality: This needs to be at least four good-sized paragraphs. Please, be as detailed as possible with this. We would like to be able to get a good feel for how your character behaves, thinks, and feels. Situational examples are great, as well as general descriptions of how the character operates.
Strengths & Weaknesses: Think of physical, mental, and emotional examples for both. Citing canon is a big plus for this. It just helps round out the personality.

Powers/Spellcards/Skills/Abilitiles/Items:
This is where you will describe your character's special abilities, if they have any. These abilities will be translated into touhou-universe specific abilities and in the form of Spellcards. Check the FAQ for an explanation on how spellcards work. Your character may have many spellcards, however we ask that you only choose 3 initially. The others can be sorted out at your leisure.

For example, Cirno is an Ice Fairy with the innate ability to manipulate cold. She is a child however, so her spellcards are quite simple and make for good examples. Her spellcards include:

[Ice Sign: Icicle Fall], Ice falls all around the target from different angles, and as you move closer she will fire 5-way spreads more often.

[Freeze Sign: Perfect Freeze], an attack in which she will lower the temperature in the area, throwing ice and danmaku in wild patterns. The cold is nearly unbearable.

[Snow Sign: Diamond Blizzard], A raw display of icy fury, throwing icicles and danmaku wildly in a thick pattern. She has no real strategy with this one...she is just a child after all.

However, if your character has no abilities, they will be allowed to take "mundane abilities," which are basically unremarkable abilities associated to their personality, profession or what have you. A good example of this is Rinnosuke Morichika's ability to recognize the name and purpose of any object at a glance.

As for items, if your character has non-technological personal items, they will be allowed to keep them to a certain degree. However, anything high-tech or magical in nature will be taken. High-tech items will end up in Kourindou, the shop owned by Rinnosuke. Magical items will end up in Marisa's shop. These items will be re-attainable with Mod permission...however money will be required for either type, so your character will have to have some form of income to be able to do so.

Sample Section
First Person Sample: Your standard sample for a post to your character's journal written in the first person. It does not need to be set in-game. For this, you can either write one yourself (100 words minimum), link to a musebox or dear_mun, or you may choose to take a six question interview with Aya Shameimaru, the resident tabloid reporter of Gensokyo. If you choose the interview, Aya will present you with six questions based on your application, in which your answers will be used as a sample.

Third Person Sample: This will be written in the third person, and at least 200 words and in any setting you choose. We're looking for a good sample that shows you have a good understanding of how your character thinks and acts in a situation of your choosing. Please be as thorough as possible to show us that you have a good understanding of your character, and in turn give us a good understanding of your character as well.

Anything Else: OPTIONAL. This is just if you have some extra notes, concerns, or questions that you'd like the mods to know in the app that weren't covered by the previous section. Feel free to leave it blank.
