P2P connections are one of the most important means to share data among peers. However, their speed is limited by the number of people sharing a given file. BoostMachine offers to speed up your P2P downloads by discovering more seeds. Differently from more specific P2P accelerators, this one supports various torrent clients.
Using this accelerator is very easy. In fact, there are only three actions necessary for this program to start speeding up your connection. First, you need to select the specific client you wish to accelerate as the program automatically lists the installed clients. Then, you should select the active network interface. This action may be a little tricky, so be careful to check whether you have chosen the right network card. Finally, you can start accelerating the connection. There will also be a button to let you quit the application. If you minimize BoostMachine, it will remain running from the System Tray where it will be available by clicking on its icon. There is also a part of the interface dedicated to showing statistical data about your connection, such as duration and number of received and sent bytes. You will also be able to check your connection speed in graphical form.
In general, BoostMachine is a light and robust tool that will do its job without affecting your system’s performance. When tried, this program seemed to actually speed up my P2P connection, although this is difficult to tell for sure, because the speed may depend on several different factors. The program can be used for free but unfortunately there will be an annoying registration window popping up once in a while.
