Maurice (film)

I watched 'Maurice' when I was a kid and I really liked it. It was one of the first films about homosexuality I have seen. I saw it again yesterday and I highly recommend it. It's very romantic, bittersweet story, according to wikipedia:

Maurice (pronounced Morris) is a 1987 British romantic drama film based on the novel of the same title by E. M. Forster. It is a tale of homosexual love in early 20th century England, following its main character Maurice Hall from his school days through university until he is united with his life partner.

Maurice was produced by Ismail Merchant via Merchant Ivory Productions and Film Four International, directed by James Ivory, and written by Ivory and Kit Hesketh-Harvey, with cinematography was by Pierre Lhomme.

The film stars James Wilby as Maurice, Hugh Grant as Clive and Rupert Graves as Alec. The supporting cast included Denholm Elliott as Dr Barry,Simon Callow as Mr Ducie, Billie Whitelaw as Mrs Hall, and Ben Kingsley

as Lasker-Jones.

I have finished watching OZ (TV series) yesterday and I just can't stop thinking about Chris Keller
and Tobias Beecher (actors Meloni and Tengersen do an excellent job with their characters).
Their story broke my heart.

Some of their most memorable moments: Keller casually running his hand over Beecher's arm; the look in Beecher's eyes when he goes in to visit Keller in hospital after he has been injured; Beecher anxiously running his fingers through his hair before going in to see Keller for the first time after a long separation. The way Keller pauses for a moment before turning around when Beecher says his name.

Keller: I'll see you.
Beecher: When?
Keller: Back here. Or in heaven.
Beecher: You really think we're gonna get into heaven?
Keller: Ah ... you and me together? God doesn't have the balls to keep us out.

Favourite couple

S. Scanlation group has put up a contest, that people should write about their favourite yaoi couple. It's hard for me to decide which one is my favourite but I was thinking about it and two of them come to my mind:

from Sadahiro Mika's Under Grand Hotel Sen and Swordfish
from Nitta Youka's Haru wo Daite Ita Iwaki and Katou

Why them. I have already read this two mangas several times. I generally like yaoi where all the men look like men, where plot and dialogues are good, with lots of hot bed scenes and when characters switch the seme/uke roles (unfortunately this is realy rare in yaoi).

IWAKI and KATO

hmm I have to say that I "only" like Iwaki and Kato as a persons but I crazy love them as a couple. I'm really envy of this Yin and Yang relationship they have. This wonderful harmony, partnership and that they always support each other.

My favourite scene is when Kato had some difficulties in his job and had a terrible nightmare. He coudn't wake up but suddenly he felt a nice, calming scent. He woke up and find himself in Iwaki's arms . He was deeply moved that even in his dreams Iwaki had come to rescue him.

And one more thing I just love when Iwaki switch to the seme role.

SEN and SWORDFISH

I really like that I can't decide which one of them I like more because I love them equally. Betwen them is just the right combination of excitement, passion, jealousy, violence, love and lust! My favourite scene is when Swordfish after being raped by the warden finally admit that he done many horrible things to his beloved.

Mayby I just quote the dialogue:
Sword: Sen...I failed you
Sen: We still have a chance to escape
Sword: It's not that. When we first met, I only did horrible things to you. But why did you fall in love with me?
Sen: Walter asked me the same thing...It's the same as this (Sen dropped an apple) The apple didn't fall on its own accord.It just can't resist the pull of gravity. It's the same as this. What about you...When did you fall for me?
Sword: Dunno...Maybe from the moment I first kissed your lips.
Sen: Then maybe the apple has always wanted to kiss the Earth.
Sword: Who are you? A love sick maiden?
Sen: There are some things that you can't resist (Sen is trying to kiss him)
Sword: Nope. I will resist...until we're under the sun.
Sen: You're such a tease.

MIZUSHIRO Setona's

The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese and the sequel The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice are one of the finest yaoi titles I have ever read.
The characters are amazing and well-developed. The relationship is realistic and full of emotion. The frank, engrossing conversations. Everything about this manga is good. This isn't a yaoi manga with a good story... This is a good story that happens to be yaoi. If only there were more in the genre like this one!

Today I have started reading Cold Light by Narise Konohara. This is Cold Sleep sequel.
So far I have read :

   Better Than a Dream (Raika Sakuragi)
   Caged Slave (Yuiko Takamura)
   Cold Sleep (Narise Konohara)
   Sleeping with Money (Barbara Katagiri)
                                   Sweet Admiration (Yuuki Kousaka)

IMHO the best one is Better Than a Dream (Raika Sakuragi) and the second one Caged Slave (Yuiko Takamura).

Marathon

On Saturday I ran a marathon: 42km 195m .That was my second marathon. Participation in the race was a spontaneous decision and that was crazy idea because on that day was really hot and the race started at 1p.m.
I couldn't stand the heat and my time result wasn't too good so I was really suprised when I get the second prize cup. It turned out that only four women finish the race and therefore my time was enough to take second place.
