Shared Forms

Shared Forms is a visual collaboration between Bocci and ceramic artist Janaki Larsen. The project explores a single shared geometry, the circle, expressed through Bocci’s 14p and 118p portable lights placed in dialogue with ceramic vessels by Janaki Larsen. The circle serves as an elemental form, familiar, adaptable, and able to hold structure or dissolve into pattern.

In the images, the lights and vessels are arranged into shifting constellations, sometimes as loose clusters, sometimes as ordered grids, sometimes as simple geometric figures. Although each object is circular or circular in profile, the arrangements generate new geometries and reveal how repetition and spacing can transform a simple form into a broader system.

Bocci’s portable lights and Larsen’s ceramics were treated as equal components. Each piece becomes a point within a larger field, its meaning shaped not by its individual form but by its relationship to the others. Through small adjustments, the compositions evolve and allow light and clay to influence one another without hierarchy.
The resulting images are quiet and intentional, inviting viewers to see how a simple shape can unfold into a wide range of arrangements.
