118p Portable

The 118 Series, Omer Arbel’s delicate light with a fluid, organic pattern, is updated with a portable variation, the 118p. Created by introducing molten glass into a steel cage, the 118p captures the feather-like impressions left where glass once met metal.

Each piece is formed within a reusable steel cage. As air is introduced, the glass expands to fill the open spaces within the framework. Heat keeps it pliable while gravity draws it downward, creating elongated forms that follow the steel cage’s contours, yielding gentle stretches and marks. Once the piece cools and sets, the steel structure is removed, cleaned, and used again. The finished sphere bears the subtle traces of the shaping process.

The 118p is available in white, bronze, green, and grey. Each piece is hand-formed in Bocci’s Vancouver studio, resulting in subtle variations that make every 118p unique. The 118p measures 130mm to 146mm in diameter, charges via USB-C and has three dimming levels. A 45-minute charge powers up to 8 hours of use at full brightness or up to 80 hours on the lowest setting.
