Bodyline Review: POSITIVE

This is my second Bodyline order, but my first review.

On Friday, July 8th in the evening I placed my order for the following items:

I paid $45 for the EMS shipping. Ouch. But not horribly bad.

On Monday, July 11th my order was delivered to my house in the evening. However, no one was home at that time so I picked it up early from the Post Office the next day.

As with others, the package came wrapped in nothing but a black plastic bag. Thankfully nothing tore or ripped, but I was surprised since they even state in your shipping that it includes a "carton" that they weigh you for. Slightly misleading wording.

Ta-dah! Shiny new packages, full of hopes and frills!

For the record in worn photos, I'm 5' 2", 110 lbs., 31" bust - 26" waist. Blouse is bodyline, socks are from Sock Dreams (unless otherwise noted), shoes are from Bodyline. All skirts worn with a petticoat of 2 layer nylon chiffon.

First up, we have their "Chocoberry" skirt. I couldn't resist, I love strawberries and those chocolate hearts were calling to me.

Comes with a detachable waist bow. Lace is nice, the usual great-but-not-wow. Everything is sewn together strong and sturdy.

The print itself is very vivid and well printed. Really fun and just the right colors.

Here we have it worn (blurry, I apologize). It sits very well and snug around the waist, has a good weight to it so it falls nicely. Personally, this one fits my style very well as I love pink and sweets. I was very happy with this print. I hadn't seen any photos of it worn aside from the stock one on the website, so I took a chance and luckily was rewarded.

Next up, we have their macaron skirt. In my first bodyline order, I purchased the JSK that is, what I refer to as, the "sister" print of this one. I also ordered that JSK in the brown too as I loved the way the colors worked together.

I was very happy when I pulled this one out of the packaging. I was very pleased with how they centered the line of roses alone the waist ties instead of just haphazardly cutting wherever along the fabric. The print quality is great, I love all the inflections and shades on the cakes and macarons. I had seen photos on daily_lolita of girls wearing this one, and I already loved the JSK so this was an easy choice for me to make.

Very excited to plan out coords with this. There are a number of colors you can use to pull out the colors of this print. So much fun!

This set was the one that basically got me started on this order, the "Magical Cosmetics" print. I had seen a girl at Kinokuniya's ILD wearing this print, and I was sold on it immediately thereafter. Especially because reds have always been a color that worked well on me. I purchased the whole shebang: skirt, socks, bow and bag.

This print, of course, closely resembles AP's Rose Toilette as can be seen here. When I had worn this out for the NYC swap meet this past Saturday, it was mistaken more than once for the print. While it is not a direct replica, you can see it is "heavily influenced" by this print. In any case, it still has lots of its own fine little details. I really like the touches of blue in this print. This piece is working so well as a whole. The edges are finished with a grosgrain ribbon bias.

The socks are pretty cute too. I thought the off-white would best compliment this colorway.

Worn, it looks great. I was testing out a potential coord in this photo (I nixed the brown cardigan and brown shoes, just for reference, it didn't look as great as I had imagined in my head).

The bow is the same as the one on the skirt. Had to fight with it a bit to get it to sit up on my head the right way, but I made it happen. It's well made and secure.

Last, we have this romper in sax. I had really wanted once since I saw AP's cute rompers.

It has cute heart buttons for the closure, and zips up from crotch to waist.

I was concerned slightly this wouldn't look good on me. The model picture is kind of off-putting but at $19 it's a good price point. Plus the Sock Dreams socks help pull it together, even if it isn't the exact same shade of blue. The heart pockets are really cute. It's easy to wear alone, but I imagine a cute cut-sew underneath would make it just as fun.

Sizing wise it's good. It has shirring in the torso, so there is plenty more room if you have a bigger bust. I don't have that problem at all |D The thighs, however, have no give, as a warning. They're not tight on me, they fit me just right.

Thankfully, my overall experience was great. I had no problems and was very pleased. I tried to get as much as my budget would allow since I certainly don't want to dole out another $45 just for shipping costs anytime soon. I probably won't make another order until the winter time (for a cheap jacket and some cardigans, though I'm also saving up for my next brand piece as well. Gotta balance it out, right?).

Shipping: 3.5/5. While it was sent out quick and arrived fast, the plastic grabage bag they call shipping is not a secure way to send merchandise.
Quality: 5/5. For Bodyline? Yes. They've got some nice pieces out now, things that are slowly starting to break away from the typical pieces and complaints. You are getting good stuff for the price you pay for.
Communication: N/A. I never had to consult them in terms of customer service. I just sent my order in and was given my confirmation number when the time came.

If anyone would like any additional photos, don't hesitate to ask. I didn't want to over/under whelm the review with photos.

And rounding out my "favorites" theme of 2010, comes The Little Mermaid. My favorite Disney movie (and possibly favorite film, animated or otherwise). This needs relatively little explanation, but I really think this outfit is cute.

Friends Cut

So I performed a friends cut. Mostly it was just removing dead journals, but in some cases I removed a few active people. Don't take it offensively. Mostly I removed you if we barely speak or spoke only once, or if you friended me from dA and we don't talk. Honestly I can say there was nothing personal involved. I just have so many entries to go through on my friends page and I don't read a bunch of them as it is.

Conversely, if you've ever wanted to remove me, you're cool to do so.
