Don't know how many of you are Trek fans, but there have been some things posted to the ScoTpress web page in the last couple of days - www.scotpress.co.uk

PDF files of the zine Enterprise - Log Entries 44 - 94 have been posted; also 10 MP3 audio tapes, some of which were sent to conventions in the UK by Gene Roddenberry, or are talks/interviews with Gene and Majel Barrett. Four of them are Australian, originally sent to ScoTpress by Diane Marchant, a very active Trek fan who sadly passed away a few years ago. The tapes date from 1977 to at least 1985.

Just home from a few days away.

This past weekend was the annual writing one that raynewton and I usually go to, but after her stroke last year, she didn't want to risk the journey, and I decided not to go alone. Just as well - her sister got the chance of a four day break, and asked me to stay with Ray while she was away. I bullied her into going for a walk each day (apart from Monday when it was really, really wet all day). It's taken a year, and while we recognised that she'd made a great recovery, I'm really seeing a massive improvement now every time I visit.

My visit coincided with my six-monthly check up after my little op three years ago - all clear, no problems, go back in March. But oh, it was so frustrating - I believe in getting there with plenty of time in hand, but they were running half an hour late... so I sat there in the waiting area for close on two hours... Thank goodness for a kindle!

I drove down, though I used train and taxi to go to the clinic. The traffic was surprisingly heavy, with a lot of tour buses still on the road, and coming back it was very wet. The north of Scotland is getting the tail end of one of the hurricanes - the one with the L name, can't remember it... It's not particularly windy here, but I passed one electronic sign just before Loch Lomond - 'All sailings to Barra and Uist are cancelled' so it must be really wild in the Minch.

I'm offering two new Sentinel stories this year. These are both gen, but can be regarded as pre-slash.

A Fresh Start (11280 words - 22 pages) This is a post-TSbyBS story. Blair decides it would be safest for Jim if he were to leave Cascade. Jim has other ideas. It will be sent to everyone who donates $15 to Moonridge

Full Circle (20750 words - 36 pages) AU. In this sequel to Ten Leagues Beyond the Wide World's End (in which 16-year-old Blair is kidnapped by Seumas MacEllis, who comes from another universe) 26-year old Blair decides to write about the various emergency services for his dissertation, learning about each in a series of ride-alongs... and so he meets Jim Ellison, his universe's 'version' of Seumas MacEllis. The only difference - Jim Ellison doesn't have heightened senses. It will be sent to everyone who donates $25 to Moonridge. Posting this on behalf of a friend. I've known her for some years (not just online) and can assure you that she's a genuine student.

My name is Sarah and I’m a PhD student at Aberystwyth University, studying online communities and how they affect everyday life. I’m looking for people to fill in a short online questionnaire (15 questions), which should take less than ten minutes to complete.

The first page of the questionnaire has some information about the research, together with my contact details and those of my supervisor. I have also set up a website which has more information for participants (and potential participants) at http://online-friendship.com.

The questionnaire asks whether you would be willing to be interviewed about your answers. There’s no obligation to do this, but if you do agree to take part in the interviews, they will probably take place in the autumn/winter.

The lighting wasn't the best, and at a distance the flash doesn't work too well, so some of them are a wee bit dark.

Since other people are posting their offerings, I'll add what I've got so far (I hope to have another story finished in time - I have three started - but I'm not committing myself - I prefer to have everything written before the auction - I don't like the pressure of doing it afterwards.)

Hand knitted sweaters suitable for Beanie kids Jim and Blair, two for $5 and I'll pay postage (these would probably also fit 9 - 10" teddy bears) These will be different designs and colours (my choice of colour, sorry - my local shop is slightly limited in what it carries that's suitable for these).

Once Bitten - a 30000-word AU story. In a world where sentinels are known, Blair is a lecturer in the sentinel-guide unit at Rainier. Although he knows how to work with a sentinel, he doesn't believe he has what it takes to actually be a guide. Gen, but could be looked at as potentially pre-slash.

I'd just like to say Hi to the people who have already friended me, and an especial thanks to janedavitt who has given me a *lot* of help already.

At the moment I've got nothing formatted, can't even work out how to give the page a name, and although I thought I'd friended back the people who've already friended me, they're not showing up here. In spite of Jane's advice, I have to be doing something wrong (not surprising! I'm not the world's most computer literate person.)

I don't know how active I'll be here; probably not very. We'll see..
