(Just as a note, this entry is public but comments are subject to screening. I've had previous issues with online bullying/stalking/harassment unrelated to this situation, so I need to protect myself.)

Until about midnight last night, I was a follower of @jeffeastin on Twitter. On Twitter, I'm http://twitter.com/#!/lady_bluetooth. I was interested in seeing what Eastin was live tweeting. I noticed that his feed was not on my timeline. I logged in and and out, switched my clients, only to see that I've been blocked from following Eastin.

I wrote some critical tweets about White Collar during the season premiere and last night, but only in relation to one issue: Neal and Mozzie illegally and unethically profitting from the sale of the U-boat art. My intention with these tweets was to express concern. My criticism was written with the goal of seeking a promise of resolution for this issue. I did not want or expected to get leaks and spoilers. I did not intend to belittle or harass anyone with my critical tweets. I figured that the writers would rather hear complaints from concerned fans like me rather than people who want to pick fights or hate on the show without a good reason.

Before this, I have only uttered praise for White Collar online and offline. I've supported the show through various means online and offline. I'm still a fan of the show, even if I have spotted faults in it.

I hope that this block was a glitch or an accident. I hope that this was not an attempt to prevent tweets from those who were critical of the show from being seen. After rereading my timeline, I can see the possibility of my tweets being misinterpreted by someone who hasn't had much interaction with me online. Again, my tweets were made without any ill will. I am not a Twitter stalker, spammer, troll, critic without cause, perpetual complainer, or trouble maker. I am just a fan from Brooklyn who noticed that something was amiss on one of her favorite TV shows. I hope that the issue can be resolved in a peaceful manner.

This reaction to the events at the NYC Doctor Who screening started off a ton of drama in the fandom

I agree with some of the overall criticisms contained in the post. Some people were rude and acted inconsiderately. I'm disappointed in those who were pushing and shoving, especially those who pushed older fans and those with disabilities out of the way. People towards the front of the line were guilty of saving spots for more than 2 people, thus inflating the unofficial counts. Others cut the line.

The theater management/BBC America failed to distribute tickets/wristbands early enough to prevent line jumping/disrupt those who were planning to hold spaces for 40 people. Some of the younger fans were definitely unaware of etiquette in these situations. Also, there was no control over how people were seated. My friend and I ended up without seats in Theater 7 because the staff forgot to subtract reserve seats from the amount of wristbands given out. We had to wait until the VIP's were seated before we could take the leftover seats. Many people were pushing and shoving for the autographs. Like the writer, I wanted to get one of Alex Kingston, but I realized that many people were in my way. I gave up on that one. I can understand some of the frustration expressed.

I have a few specific points of contention. The Doctor Who NY members/organizers and the writers of the Waiting For The Doctor blog are not fully responsible for the fan pandemonium on the internet. Their information on the event was twisted by rumor spreaders and those who wanted to secure their spot on the line without considering others. Some of the words in the post can be interpreted as problematic (ex: deranged, creton) and create a more critical and mean-spirited tone. There is also too much age based criticism. I'm a younger fan of the show (22 years old to be precise) and I can appreciate both the old Who and the new Who. I also know fandom/convention etiquette. Not everyone can gain experience right away. For every person that treated the writer badly, there were so many more random acts of kindness. People watched my stuff for a half hour so I could get lunch and get a book for my senior thesis from Strand. Other fans offered home cooked/baked foods to complete strangers. The overall sentiment is more negative than positive.

I'm usually a cosplayer of Martha or Liz Ten (yay being multiracial!), but I decided to put on my red American Apparel hoodie, miniskirt, and stockings to be Amy. I didn't want to deal with bulky cosplay when I was going to be outside for most of the day. I didn't want to walk around with all the props. All of the other Amy cosplayers I met were nice and welcoming. To me, no one cared if your outfit wasn't perfect or that you looked nothing like the character. Whoever came up with the "Shag Of Ponds" term is a misogynistic jerk. I'm glad the writer pointed this out. This term should have been stamped out from the very first time it was said.

I don't agree with her statement that there were too many Amy cosplayers and not enough of other companions. I can tell you from my own experience that some companions outfits are much easier to find/make than others. Far too many New Who and Old Who companions have custom/expensive/rare elements to their wardrobe. Amy on the other hand wears stuff that most women in their teens and twenties already own. If cosplayers can't find the exact item Amy wore or can't afford it, cheaper copies are easy to find.

As far as my experience in the line; I arrived at 8:50am. I go to school an hour away from the city, and I don't have a car. I relied on public transportation to get there. I thought I was in the clear as far as getting into the Q&A but there were already 400 people ahead of me. I was holding a spot for one friend of mine who had train issues. I told the people in back and in front of me that she would be there soon. They were fine with it. I spent the day chatting with other fans, taking pictures, and even getting reading done for a class. I had so much fun and made quite a few friends. Although I was a bit annoyed that people were cutting the line and that the line was so much longer than I expected, I didn't let that ruin my day.

In terms of the comparisons to last year, I'll address these in more detail because the writer relied on hearsay for her opinion. For last year's screening/Apple Store Q&A, most of the fans showed up 2-4 hours before and got along fine. No one was saving spots for 20 people who would show up several hours later and no one camped out overnight/very early in the morning. Only those who showed up late were denied entry. I managed to get the autographs of Karen Gillan and Steven Moffat at the screening before the bodyguards whisked them away. I couldn't get Matt Smith's signature because of pushing.

Last year had better Q&A questions and more opportunities for cast interaction. There were fewer self promoters and OMG I'M SUCH A HUGE FAN comments. Last year, most of the questions involved fandom theories, the plot, plans for future episodes, and other questions along those lines. In this year's favor, no one in the Q&A hit on Alex Kingston or Karen Gillan which was awesome. At the same time, the screening lacked this year's level of fandom camaraderie. There wasn't that much time to socialize with other fans. Neither event could be considered a mini convention. Far fewer people were aware that both events were even happening. Both events were announced at the last minute. Also, the cast came to New York AFTER the episodes aired in Britain. Everyone already cheated and watched The Eleventh Hour and The Beast Below online. This year was better because the Barnes & Noble event provided an autograph opportunity (it was worth the $61 for the Season 5 DVD's just to shake hands with the cast).

DW Line Con to me was so much fun and although nothing can ever be perfect, this was one of the best efforts I've seen in fandom to make the best of it. I hope that the lessons/negative experiences of this year will be used to improve future events.
