Obaachan (1925-2010)
My Obaachan (grandmother) passed away yesterday. I am surprisingly calm about it, maybe because I knew it was going to happen this season and maybe because I got a chance to see her and have closure before she lost consciousness. Being able to see her just a few days ago was a huge blessing for me. She was having difficulty breathing, cancer was invading her body, and her organs were failing, so in a way, her passing is a release from all the discomfort and suffering of being alive.
Obaachan, I hope you are in a better place where "being" is no longer a struggle for you and your world is filled with joy. I love you and miss you very much. We all do.
