If you have Windows 98 or ME please follow\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/accessibility\/win98\/win98mouse_visibility.htm\">this older tutorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Windows first introduced pointer trails for improved visibility on the older LCD monitors found in the first laptops. They can help people who struggle to track the movement of the pointer on both modern\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/accessibility\/winxp\/disp_bg_screens.htm\">TFT<\/a>\u00a0screens and traditional &#8216;tube&#8217;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/accessibility\/winxp\/disp_bg_screens.htm\">CRT<\/a>\u00a0screens.<\/p>\n<p>You might also benefit from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/accessibility\/winxp\/mouse_visibility.htm\">changing the size and colour of the pointer<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/accessibility\/winxp\/mouse_locatingpointer.htm\">locating the pointer through a keypress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how to enable pointer trails on your PC.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Select Control Panel from the Start Menu\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/assets\/images\/access\/winxp\/thumbnails\/start_control.gif\" width=\"260\" height=\"320\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Open up the Windows Control Panel by going to Start and selecting Control Panel from the menu.<\/p>\n<p>If there is no Control Panel in your Start Menu then your school&#8217;s technician or network administrator has stopped you from being able to access it!<\/p>\n<p>Windows Key,\u00a0Arrow Keys\u00a0(to select Control Panel),\u00a0Enter<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Control Panel\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/assets\/images\/access\/winxp\/thumbnails\/control_mouse.gif\" width=\"260\" height=\"204\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Within the Control Panel, locate the &#8216;Mouse&#8217; icon and double-click it to open the Mouse options.<\/p>\n<p>If you struggle with double-clicking then you can click on it once to highlight it, and then press the enter key to open it.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00a0(until Mouse is highlighted),\u00a0ENTER<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Pointer Options Dialog\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bltt.org\/assets\/images\/access\/winxp\/thumbnails\/mouse_pointeroptions.gif\" width=\"260\" height=\"262\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Click on the\u00a0<strong>Pointer Options<\/strong>\u00a0tab at the top of the Mouse Options dialog<\/p>\n<p>Under the Visibility section enable the &#8216;Show Pointer Trails&#8217; box.<\/p>\n<p>You can adjust the length of the trails by dragging the slider from short to long.
