Course Overview
Java is a popular programming language used globally, with major companies like Google, Netflix, and Microsoft relying on it. Learning Java can open up so many opportunities in the world of software development. The Code Writers: Introduction to Java Programming is a free introductory course about the fundamentals of java programming. This is a detailed one-week course filled with content exploration and hands-on code writing exercises that opens students to the expansive world of programming. Under the mentorship of a passionate high schooler who has mastered AP Computer Science, participants gain invaluable insights into coding and will develop their logical problem solving skills.
Course Features:
This course was inspired by the Runestone Academy CSAwesome course, which will be used for practice problems throughout the week. We will have a lot of interactive activities and games to support our learning. Our course will go over the following topics:
- Assignment Operators & Primitive Types
- Objects & Classes
- Boolean Expressions & If statements
- Iterations (Loops)
Course Calendar:
All classes will be held from Monday to Friday June 23-27 for one week over Zoom at 3:00 – 4:30 PM PST. There will be a 5 minute break in the middle of each class.
