due to the great response of interest by many of you guys on the previous post including the first five brush sets, i've decided to go a little further and provide some tutorials for installing the brushes.

please read the following information provided in the tutorial before contacting me about problems you're having saving, unzipping, installing, or using the brushes. most of your questions will probably be answered in the following step-by-step guide.

1. First, you'll need to save the brush set to your own computer. You can do this by right-clicking on the preview of the brush set and selecting 'Save Target As.' You can then choose where you want to save it on your computer. In this step, you should choose a location that will be easy for you to find in the following steps. (Tip: I recommend saving the file to your desktop. You can later delete the unzipped file after you've installed the brushes.)

If you get an error message when you try to save the brush sets that says your internet security options won't allow you to download the file, you'll need to temporarily change your security settings. In your browser, go to the Tools Menu --> Internet Options --> Security. See the screen capture below for a visual.

(Tip: Change your settings, save the brush sets, and then immediately change your settings back to what they were before. Don't forget what your settings were before you changed them!)

2. After you've got the zipped file saved to your computer, you'll need to unzip it. You will need an unzipping program. I use WinZip. It can be downloaded for free and is very easy to use. (Tip: If you don't have WinZip or another unzipping component, you'll need to stop right now and download one. You cannot proceed further until you do so. If you go to the WinZip website, easy installation instructions can be found there.) Next, you'll need to right click on the file and select 'Extract All...' Your unzipping program will guide you through the rest of the unzipping procedure. (Tip: Unzip the file to a location you will have no trouble finding in the next step. Again, I recommend your desktop, as the unzipped file can be deleted after you've installed the brushes.) See the screen capture below for a visual.

3. Now that you've saved and unzipped the brushes, you'll need to locate your local Paint Shop Pro Brushes folder. (Tip: It's usually c:/program files/jasc software/paint shop pro 7/brushes).

4. Once you locate the folder, open it. You'll also need to open the folder that you just unzipped the brushes to. (Tip: Resize the folders so that each one takes up half of the screen. See the screen cap below for a visual.) Once you have both folders open, drag the brushes you just downloaded into your brushes folder for Paint Shop Pro. (Remember: All brush files must be in .jbr format for Paint Shop Pro.)

5. Now that you've installed the brushes, you're ready to use them! Open up Paint Shop Pro.

6. Open up an image. It can be any image that you want to use a custom brush on.

7. Click on the Paint Brush option. (Tip: It looks like this: )

8. Go to the Tool's window. (Tip: Where you adjust the size and whatnot.) Then click on the small paintbrush in the upper right corner. See the screen capture below for a visual.

To open the tools window, click on this button:

The Tools window will pop up, and it should look like this:

9. Now select "Custom." (Tip: It is right below "normal" on the list.) A separate window will pop up and you should be able to see all of your the custom brushes by scrolling through the previews of them. See the screen capture below for a visual.

a few notes:
-if you have any questions, you can ask. i don't know how quickly i'll be able to respond, so it is important that you try to find the answer to your question by reading this guide.
-this tutorial will be linked through the userinfo for easy access, should you ever need to look at it again.
-there are separate tutorials for converting brushes to psp 8, which can be found using the userinfo page.
-all other tutorials can be found using the userinfo page, too.
