Royal Papworth Delivers Over 4,000 Clinical Documents in First Month with T-Pro, Accelerating Shift to Intelligent, Clinician-First Documentation

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust integrates T-Pro document workflow and speech recognition with Dedalus Lorenzo to reduce clinician burden, improve turnaround times, and build a scalable foundation for AI-enabled documentation.

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, has partnered with T-Pro to implement document workflow and speech recognition as part of its digital transformation programme, already delivering measurable impact within the first month of go-live. Clinicians across the Trust have completed more than 4,000 dictation tasks, demonstrating rapid adoption and immediate improvements in documentation efficiency, turnaround times, and workflow consistency.

Integrated with the Dedalus Lorenzo electronic patient record (EPR), T-Pro’s solution enables clinicians to capture and manage clinical documentation more efficiently within existing workflows, without adding complexity to their day. Early adoption has been particularly strong across key departments including Cardiology, Cambridge Centre of Lung Infection, Interstitial Lung Disease, Oncology, and the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Unit (PVDU). This has helped streamline clinical correspondence, improve the accuracy and consistency of records, and ensure documentation is no longer a bottleneck, but a responsive and integrated part of patient care delivery. In the first month alone, 4,957 tasks were generated, with 4,341 successfully completed.

Governing Ambient AI Across The Entire Document Lifecycle

The biggest shift in healthcare AI is not that ambient voice technology can now generate a clinical note. It is that healthcare organisations are asking what happens next.

Only a few years ago, the central question around AI scribes was simple: can the technology produce a clinically useful note?

At the time, that was the right question. However, clinical documentation is complex. Every organisation has its own workflows, templates, specialties, governance structures, and levels of digital maturity. Even today, deployment requires careful configuration, clinical input, and validation at the point of use.

But the pace of change has been extraordinary. Across the market, AI scribe platforms can now consistently generate clinical notes. Note generation is no longer the full differentiator. It is the baseline expectation.

The more important question is now: how do healthcare organisations safely govern everything that happens after the note is created?

Because in real-world clinical practice, risk does not end when the consultation ends. It often emerges afterwards, as information is copied into the EPR, pasted between systems, reconciled across records, approved by clinicians, routed to teams, and distributed across the wider healthcare environment.

The note is not the finish line. It is the beginning of the wider clinical workflow.

- By Dr Jack Evans, Clinical AI Fellow, T-Pro

Artificial intelligence in healthcare is no longer a distant concept or a theoretical discussion. In Ireland, it is moving rapidly into the centre of national healthcare strategy.

Over the past two years, a series of major Irish Government publications have made one thing clear: AI is now receiving a serious, coordinated and strategic push across the health system. The Department of Health, the HSE, HIQA and wider public service bodies are all putting the foundations in place to support safe, responsible and practical AI adoption.

For healthcare leaders, clinicians, digital health teams and service managers, this is an important moment. The conversation is moving beyond abstract promises of innovation. The focus is now on implementation: how AI can reduce administrative burden, support clinical teams, enable productivity, and improve documentation with better-quality health data – all while remaining safe, transparent, and clinically grounded.

In reviewing the latest Irish Government strategy documents, the direction of travel is clear: Ireland is preparing for AI-enabled healthcare, and the enablers are actively being put in place.

The key documents reviewed were:

AI for Care: The Artificial Intelligence Strategy for Healthcare in Ireland 2026–2030, HSE and Department of Health

Digital for Care: A Digital Health Framework for Ireland 2024–2030, Department of Health

Draft National Guidance for the Responsible and Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence in Health and Social Care Services: HIQA

Guidelines for the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Public Service: Department of Public Expenditure

Productivity and Savings Taskforce Action Plan 2025: Department of Health

Together, these documents bring Ireland’s emerging healthcare AI position into focus.

The message is clear: AI adoption is being encouraged, but it must be done responsibly, safely and with appropriate governance.

AVT Pilots to Scaled Adoption: Why Healthcare Need a Governance-First Approach

Ambient Voice Technology is no longer a future-facing concept in healthcare. It is already moving from early pilots into real-world clinical deployment, helping reduce documentation burden, improve clinician experience and create more efficient workflows across care settings.

But as adoption accelerates, the conversation is changing.

Early evaluations of ambient scribing often focused on transcription quality, clinician satisfaction and usability. Today, healthcare organisations are asking more complex questions:

- Can this be scaled safely across a healthcare organisation?

- How is clinical and organisational risk managed when AI contributes to clinical documentation?

- How do we govern continuous change as models, workflows and usage evolve?

- Which suppliers can meet sustained regulatory, clinical safety and data protection scrutiny?

For healthcare providers, the question is no longer simply: “Does ambient scribing work?”

It is now: “Can we adopt Ambient Voice Technology in a way that is safe, compliant and operationally sustainable at scale?”

That is exactly why T-Pro has created: AVT Governance Compliance Packs.

Designed to support healthcare organisations at different stages of adoption, these packs provide region-specific guidance, checklists and resources for Ireland, Australia and the UK. Each pack reflects the governance, compliance and operational considerations that matter locally, helping providers assess readiness, manage risk and implement Ambient Voice Technology with confidence.

A fellowship built around real-world clinical impact

One month ago, Dr Jack Evans and Dr Dhiren Shivji joined T-Pro as our first Clinical AI Fellows, working alongside our CCIO and CSO, Ben Jeeves, with a clear aim: to bring frontline clinical experience into the way clinical AI is designed, tested, validated, and implemented in real healthcare settings.

At T-Pro, this reflects a core belief: the future of clinical AI must be built with clinicians, not simply for them. The Fellowship was created to make that belief practical by embedding clinical voices early in the process, helping shape technology that is safe, meaningful, and built around real-world workflows.

One month in, one insight already stands out:

“The gap isn’t technical. It’s translational.”

Clinicians First: Why the Future of Health Tech Won’t Be Built Without Them

There’s a moment in every clinic that rarely gets talked about.
It comes just after the consultation ends, when the patient has left the room, but the work hasn’t. Notes need to be completed, letters dictated, referrals made, and decisions recorded in a way that will hold up later, often to someone who wasn’t there.

This is where care becomes system.
And it’s also where much of today’s health technology still falls short.

For all the progress in AI, too many solutions are still designed at a distance from this reality. They perform well in controlled settings, but struggle against the complexity, accountability, and pace of frontline care. The result isn’t a lack of innovation, it’s a lack of alignment.

At T-Pro, we’ve spent years working alongside clinicians in exactly these environments. What we’ve learned is simple: meaningful innovation in healthcare doesn’t come from adding clinical input at the edges. It comes from building with clinicians at the centre, not as advisors, but as leaders.

That belief sits at the heart of Clinicians First.
And it’s what led us to create the Clinical AI Fellowship.

Ambient AI is rapidly reshaping healthcare. But as adoption accelerates, the conversation is evolving, from excitement about note-taking automation to a deeper, more critical question: how do we scale this technology safely, responsibly, and system-wide?

At T-Pro, we believe the answer lies in moving beyond ambient scribing as a point solution and toward governed, workflow-native AI infrastructure, built for real-world healthcare complexity.

Healthcare Automation: A Deep Dive into What Actually Works

Healthcare automation is often discussed in broad, abstract terms. Efficiency. AI. Transformation. Scale.

But on the ground, automation succeeds or fails in one place: clinical documentation.

If documentation workflows are fragmented, delayed, or disconnected from core systems, no amount of digital ambition will fix the friction clinicians and operational teams experience every day.

At T-Pro, we focus automation where it has the greatest measurable impact:
capturing, structuring, routing, and delivering clinical documentation at scale.

This is what healthcare automation looks like when it works in real environments.

Digital transformation in healthcare is often discussed at a strategic level. Integrated care systems. AI innovation. Enterprise platforms. National reform.

But in day-to-day clinical reality, transformation succeeds or fails in one place. Documentation.

Not because documentation is glamorous. Because documentation touches everything.

It affects how quickly information moves, how safely care is coordinated, and how effectively teams operate under pressure.

At T-Pro, we focus digital transformation where it has the most immediate and measurable impact: the clinical documentation workflow
