What's Happening at LifeX

This blog post is for all our current members and our future potential tenants of Denmark, as we wanted to keep you updated on the current media attention to LifeX. We understand the recent articles have raised questions about LifeX and our housing model, and we’d like to provide some clarity.

Our concept was created to help address a structural challenge in the Danish housing market — the shortage of quality housing options for singles and couples, the high deposits and upfront payments required when relocating, and the difficulty of finding a genuine sense of community in a new city. I started LifeX 8 years ago when I moved to Copenhagen from San Francisco and found it super hard to find housing and I lived at LifeX myself as a member for 3+ years.

Unfortunately we have been getting a lot of media attention as Frederiksberg municipality’s political leadership has recently taken the position that LifeX’s model constitutes that of room letting and therefore requires a permit.

Meet Kamran!

Kamran is from Bangalore, India and has been living in Berlin for two years! Professionally, he is an HR Consultant and has also recently turned his passion for cooking into a small business. Kamran is an amazing home chef, he taught our community how to make his famous Chicken Korma at the LifeX Virtual Festival. His recipe is available here for those of you that missed it. We're thrilled to have Kamran as a part of our LifeX community and happy that he's sharing his cooking skills with the rest of Berlin (in case you needed another reason to move there 😉)!

Meet Sonia!

Sonia comes from the beautiful state of Himachal, in the northern part of India. It's also known as 'Land of Snow' with majestic mountains and lush green forests. So adjusting to the weather in Copenhagen probably wasn't so difficult for her, but we guess she might be missing the mountains. Sonia has lived in Copenhagen for five years now and before that was living in the UK and Germany. She lives a very international lifestyle and brings a great global perspective to the community. We're so happy to have her as a part of our LifeX community in Copenhagen!
