Bluesky and their "moderation"

It is widely known that Bluesky has not succeeded in moderation. They struggled with it on Twitter previously and are now facing the same issues on Bluesky. There has been no improvement, and it seems unlikely that there will be any. Their intention was to transform Twitter into a platform for extremist views under the guise of fake Antifa and fake LGBTQ+ allies, but Musk intervened. With Bluesky, they are following a similar trajectory.

The Bubbles

Twitter In my view, since Musk’s acquisition, Twitter has transformed into a more enjoyable platform. The current environment fosters a greater diversity of opinions compared to its previous version. Those who once dominated discussions with a singular viewpoint are now facing more balanced dialogue, which has contributed to reducing some unfair practices, such as the misuse of the reporting feature through mass reporting. A tactic that has been used by certain groups, still used on platforms like Bluesky, to silence voices that differ from their own perspectives.

What audience do you want to target?

X (form. Twitter) A lot of politically motivated right-wingers. For the most part, however, it is harmless or simply more straightforward views. Unless a politically left-wing individual is using an account, there is rarely any blocking. Especially not just because of language and/or origin, as it is the case with other networks (Bluesky and Fediverse for example). If you’re looking for constructive feedback, Twitter/X is currently a more effective platform for creators such as artists and writers.

Bluesky and the false promise of security and data privacy

Bluesky is already known for promoting hatred and smear campaigns, but also spreads dangerous misinformation and uses X AI Grok as an excuse to promote itself. Unfortunately, only half the truth is told. For example, there is no mention of the fact that Bluesky’s alleged “security measures” are based solely on JavaScript and can be circumvented by simply manipulating the CSS via the browser’s developer tools. For example with the account from Suzallea:

SafeLine WAF

First of all: Yes, SafeLine sponsored me a Trial license, to be able to test the WAF and write this post. Malicious gossip might claim that I’m now doing paid posts, but it’s actually not about that, but rather about returning to the origins of my website. I have written about OpenSource a lot in the past, and I would like to return to this topic. And even though I am very pleased with the application, which I run as middleware, and have received a 7-day license I try to keep this article as neutral as possible.

SkyHate

The next big victim of hate and agitation is, how could it have been anything else, Bluesky. So I’m not surprised to hear that Jack Dorsey, the founder of Bluesky, has turned his back on his own project and returned to X. Double standards, fearmongering and more hate mongering Bluesky, at least within the German-speaking region, is mainly dominated by radicalized left-wingers who are furious about anything and everything that is not directly up their asses.

ActivityPub has no future - Part IV

Double standards, fearmongering and more hate mongering While for them controllable bots, or bots that don’t use the full potential of the API from the instances, such as FediDB from Pixelfed developer Dansup seem to be fine for them, other databases that store a little more public data fetched from the API, such as ryona.agency’s FBA, are directly labeled as scrapers and illegal data processing. The fact that the use of APIs is absolutely not scraping demonstrates the lack of knowledge about how the internet works on the part of those who call themselves “guardians of the Fediverse”.

ActivityPub has no future - Part III

Dataprivacy & Law In contrast to what many instances, mainly Mastodon, advertise, data protection is not even present in Fediverse. The important thing is to know how the software you use is working, and that’s precisely what most wannabe administrators don’t know. Once the “cache” fills up on their Server because Mastodon has downloaded all the images and stored them on their own server so that Mastodon does not have to retrieve them from the other instance every time, these noobs start crying that their instance is consuming 400 GB to 1 TB space on their hard drive.

ActivityPub has no future - Part II

The “social” in Fediverse The fact that the Fediverse as a “social” medium is not much better, sometimes even worse, than Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Threads, etc. should already have become clear in the first part of this series of contributions. Especially with German-language instances and their connections, such as through a Matrix channel, black/white thinking and extremist, populist framing by the political left becomes clearly visible. Here, for example, a group with the name Fedimins seems to have come together, in which insults are also used in the Matrix channel and framing to direct the group into the same mendacity machinery as is already known from hatemongers like Fediblock, which is known to be controlled by hate preachers and defamers like Welshpixie in a dedicated Discord channel for this purpose.

ActivityPub has no future - Part I

In General The way things are currently going on at the Fediverse, or Mastoverse, there will be no future for the ActivityPub protocol. Why? Quite simply, in bullet points: Misuse of mental health disorders for manipulation Centralized, public blocklists Are mainly used to spread lies Are used to exert force on instances Are used to exclude other opinions (censorship) Public denunciation of other opinions Forcing own opinion, mainly from the political left Arbitrary instance blocking due to personal differences of opinions of individual administrators Instance-wide blocking prevents up to several thousand people who have nothing to do with the administrator’s personal witch hunt or even want to have any interaction with the administrator’s victims.
