These lands were once a part of S\u00f6dra Ving Parish here in western Sweden. Today there are just a few signs of the former fortress, but there is still an easily accessible and beautiful nature area to explore. has-text-align-center\" id=\"block-82668b11-ac5a-487b-ab7e-42e008d11fdf\">A Short History of Fagran\u00e4s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fagran\u00e4s was a medieval fortification that has been lost to history. Little is known about its actual location, but the remains found here near H\u00f6kerum and Lake Mogden are believed to be the right place. The fortification was of the kind known as a motte-and-bailey castle. This was a wooden or stone fortress situated on an area of artificially raised ground with the supporting building located on the lower ground around the raised mound. The medieval fortifications at V\u00e4dersholm did not coexist with Fagran\u00e4s, these are of a more recent origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default has-text-align-center\" id=\"block-1afd5901-1561-4ffe-93b9-16dee556fc93\">Things to Do and See<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6dd17385-e736-4c55-b0c7-b17b88bf26c1\">Following the small forest road will eventually take you to a small parking lot and an enclosure. Within the enclosure is the mound that is believed to be the former fortification of Fagran\u00e4s. It is a nice walk and even though the trees interfere with the view towards Lake Mogden there is still nice scenery to enjoy. Some places require a quite vivid imagination to come back to life and this is for sure one of those places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-3 is-cropped
