Badelunda is a small settlement on the outskirts of the city of V\u00e4ster\u00e5s. This was once, together with the church, the seat of the local parish. It lies within the historical province of V\u00e4stmanland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Short History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Badelunda Parish has its origins in the Middle Ages and the church dates to the 13th century. The parish acted as the local government for several centuries until the Swedish Municipal Reform of 1862. This was when the responsibilities of the parish were split between the new civic government of Badelunda Municipality and the church congregation. The municipality was in 1946 incorporated into the city of V\u00e4ster\u00e5s, which in 1971 became known as V\u00e4ster\u00e5s Municipality. The church congregation is today known as the V\u00e4ster\u00e5s Badelunda Congregation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things to Do and See<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The area that was once Badelunda Parish contains many historical remains. The most famous is probably the large burial mound of Anundsh\u00f6g and the many stone formations in its vicinity. In comparison, the medieval parish church is a more modern addition and might actually not be the most impressive human construction here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Badelunda Church<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This white stone church dates to the 13th century. Several alterations and additions have since been done. The church is today part of the V\u00e4ster\u00e5s Badelunda Congregation within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Badelunda Nature Reserve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The nature reserve was established in 1974 and covers an area of 38 hectares. Even thoughreserve is near the large burial mound of Anundsh\u00f6g, there are several hidden ancient remains here as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
