Beyond El Mencho and the Chapitos: Mexico’s Next Generation of Organized Crime
About the event
June 26 @ 11:00 am – 12:00 pm Eastern Time
El Mencho is dead. The Sinaloa Cartel, as we once knew it, is gone. The Chapitos are cooperating with US authorities.
Mexico’s criminal landscape is entering a new phase — one defined by fragmented networks, hyper-local armed cells, and increasingly predatory criminal economies.
For more than 15 years, InSight Crime has tracked these transformations from the ground up. In this donor-exclusive event, our team will examine the rise of Mexico’s next generation of organized crime, drawing on extensive fieldwork and lessons from elsewhere across Latin America to explore where the country’s underworld may be headed next.
Participants:
Steven Dudley, Deborah Bonello, Parker Asmann, Victoria Dittmar
