TAMPA, Fla. – USL League Two roared back into action in May, laying the groundwork for what promises to be a season to remember. Multiple players across the league put in strong performances throughout the month, with the following 11 earning a spot in the Team of the Month for May 2026.
West Virginia United’s impressive start to the regular season was a notable story in the Central Conference, and having Toby Mawer in net was a key part of that success. The Englishman, who goes to school at West Virginia University, started all four of United’s games in May, earning four wins, two clean sheets, and averaging around three saves per game. Mawer stood out for his shot-controlling abilities, giving up limited rebounds, and his quality on the ball to help his team play out of the back.
Vermont Green FC’s offensive numbers in May would certainly jump off the page, but it was also a sound defensive team throughout the month, conceding just twice in four games. Sebastian Pop was essential from the center back position to stifle Vermont’s opponents. The Norwegian was heavily involved in the Green’s build-up play, completing an average of 61 passes per game with a 90% competition rate, averaging 25 forward passes per game, and scoring one goal.
Knowing how competitive the Northwest Division is, Portland Bangers FC saw a big opportunity in May to pick up crucial points and didn’t miss one of them. NEFC put League Two on notice in May, posting a 6-0-0 record and boosting the profiles of several of its players. Campos had a near 90% passing accuracy in the middle-third with 17 of those passes being medium-range each game.
Oakland County FC had one of the strongest offensive outbursts in May, and Colin Arce’s facilitating in the midfield was a major reason for that. Arce averaged 33 completed passes per game with an 80% accuracy and 90% passing accuracy in the final third. The Michigan State University player scored the 95th-minute winning goal against Lansing City Football to deliver Oakland one of its four victories in May.
Alejandro Silva had one of the standout performances of the month, scoring four goals in Utah United’s 4-1 victory over Real Colorado. Beyond that, Silva has been a key cog as United look to retain the Mountain Division title in 2026. The Salt Lake City native had one assist and completed just over 23 passes per game at an 84% accuracy. Silva was also named to League Two's Team of the Month in May 2025.
Prosper Adagani was a menace throughout May, scoring five goals in three matches. Few players could ask for a better display than what Seth Hammond showed in May for Hill City FC. The Virginia native scored six goals in four games, including a hat trick in the club’s first-ever match. Hammond had an over 80% passing rate, helping Hill City move the ball up the pitch and create opportunities.
