Charger Executive Director of Athletics Tim Jager is pleased to announce the hiring of new Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Darrian Stickney, Assistant Men's Basketball coach Adam Schumacher, and Co-Sports Information Director Michael Bond.

Darrian Stickney
Stickney will oversee the programming and training for all student-athletes at Briar Cliff competing in 16 varsity sports. Stickney holds certifications in CPR/AED along with being SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified).

"Coach Stick brings great experience both as an athlete and a coach. He is detailed, organized, and has a great vision for where he can take our department," said Head Football Coach Shane LaDage. "Not only will he develop our student-athletes physically, but I think he will help develop a culture and toughness to compete for championships in the GPAC!"

Stickney previously served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at NCAA Division II Chadron State College in Nebraska. Stickney assisted in all programming and training sessions for football, track and field, women's basketball, and women's wrestling. He was also tasked with the budget and stock of the athlete nutrition center. Stickney holds a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Exercise Science and a minor in coaching from Fort Lewis College. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Organizational Management from Chadron State.
Adam Schumacher
Schumacher joins The Cliff after serving as a graduate assistant at NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, MN. The Mustangs went 35-25 during his tenure.

"I'm really excited to add Coach Schumacher to our staff; he brings great experience from a really successful program, I think he's got a big energy and I believe he will be a big asset," said Head Men's basketball coach
Mark Svagera. "I want to give a big thank you to Coach Forbes for what he has done for our program that past five years, I'm really excited and happy for his future in the coaching profession."

Schumacher was responsible for creating scouting reports, travel plans, and assisting in the team's offseason strength and conditioning program. He also served as a Game Environment Assistant, responsible for game day setup, uploading videoboard graphics for sponsors and players, as well as organizing major sponsorship events. Schumacher holds a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology with a minor in coaching from Gustavus Adolphus College and will obtain his Master's Degree in Physical Education/Coaching of a Sport from SMSU this academic year.

Michael Bond
Bond joins Briar Cliff as the Co-Sports Information Director after previously serving as the SID at The University of Texas Permian Basin. Bond has 34 years of experience in college athletics, working at all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

"We are thrilled to introduce Mike Bond as one of the latest additions to the Charger athletics family. With his diverse experience in statistical analysis, game management, and website management, Mike brings a wealth of knowledge to our team," said Assistant Athletic Director SWL (Senior Woman Leader), Lindsey Weatherford. "Together with our existing staff, Mike will collaborate on our sports information efforts, ensuring our 16 athletic programs receive top-tier support.

At UTBP, Bond served as the media relations contact for all 14 varsity sports and managed the live stream and replay system for volleyball and basketball. Before UTPB, Bond served as Finlandia University's first full-time Sports Information Director in school history. Alongside his SID duties, he served as the Game Event Manager, Athletic Facility Scheduler, Director of Athletic Work Study, and Fitness Center Director. He oversaw two athletic website designs during his time. Bond holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Sports Management from Tiffin University.

"I'm excited about being here at Briar Cliff, not only is the school strong athletically, it also has a solid academic reputation which is important to me," said Bond. "In addition, I have family all over Iowa, so it's nice to come home."

Bond early in his career worked with four Olympic Track teams that were competing in the 1996 Olympic Games. The four respective countries had athletes that attended his alma mater Eastern Michigan University.
