Men's Basketball Releases 2023-24 Schedule

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo men's basketball Head Coach Anthony Komara has announced the 2023-24 schedule, Thursday.
 
The 2023-24 slate will see the Falcons featured in 29 games this season, including four non-conference contests, a Division-I exhibition, and 24 Gulf South Conference matchups.
 
To kick off the year, Montevallo will travel to Miami Shores, Florida for the Gulf South Conference/Sunshine State Conference Challenge. In the season-opener, the Falcons will face Division-II powerhouse and defending National Champion Nova Southeastern. The Sharks finished with a perfect 36-0 record in 2022-23 and have won 67 of their last 68 games. After the matchup with Nova on Nov. 10, the Falcons will face tournament host Barry on Saturday, Nov. 11.
 
On Nov. 17, Montevallo will take to Trustmark Arena for the home opener against Clark-Atlanta at 7 p.m. Fans can catch the action on FloSports, the new home for basketball in the Gulf South Conference.
 
After a seven-day break, UM will open GSC play on the road against in-state rival Alabama-Huntsville in Huntsville, Alabama on Nov. 25. A trip to Livingston, Alabama to face West Alabama will conclude a two-game road stint for the Falcons on Nov. 27.
 
Montevallo will return home to host Shorter on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the conference home opener before hosting Lee on Sunday, Dec. 3.
 
To close out the 2023 calendar year, Montevallo will make road trips to Mississippi College (Dec. 8) and Delta State (Dec. 10), while hosting West Georgia (Dec. 15) and Union (Dec. 31).
 
During the midst of conference play in December, the Falcons will face two non-conference opponents. First, the UM will make a 34-mile trip north to Bartow Arena to face the UAB Blazers in an exhibition contest on Dec. 17. The non-conference slate concludes with the Falcons hosting Huntingdon College on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 5 p.m.
 
To ring in 2024, UM will take on Christian Brothers at home on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Next, the Falcons will begin a string of three-straight road games with trips to West Florida (Jan. 6), Valdosta State (Jan. 8), and AUM (Jan. 13).
The Falcons will alternate home and away contests to close out the month of January. UM will take on West Alabama (Jan. 17) and UAH (Jan. 24) at home, and will travel to West Georgia (Jan. 20) and Lee (Jan. 27). Montevallo's home contest against UAH on Jan. 24 will be the annual "Pack the SAC" game and will be sponsored by JACKS.
 
To open in February, Montevallo welcomes Delta State (Feb. 1) and Mississippi College (Feb. 3).
 
The road portion of the schedule concludes with three straight away from Montevallo. First with Shorter (Feb. 8), followed by Christian Brothers (Feb. 15), and lastly with Union (Feb. 17).
 
Montevallo returns home on Feb. 22 against Valdosta State for the first of the final three games of the year. UM remains in Trustmark Arena for a battle with West Florida on Feb. 24 and will close out the regular season with Senior Day on Mar. 2 against AUM.
 
This year's schedule features four programs that finished ranked or receiving votes in the final DSIDA Top-25 Poll of 2022-23 – including defending champ Nova Southeastern – and four teams that advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
