ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College head football coach
Michael Toerper has announced the addition of Ben Johnson to his staff ahead of the start of the 2023 season. Johnson will serve as an assistant running backs and special teams coach once his appointment begins on South Hill.
"We're thrilled to have Ben Johnson join our program," said Toerper. "Having worked with him at Holy Cross, I was able to witness his work ethic and attention to detail – and during the interview process, his preparation and teaching ability spoke volumes about his development as a coach during his time at Springfield. Ben will be a major asset for us on the offensive side of the ball, on special teams, and in recruiting. I'm excited for him and for our players because he is a great fit for our team's culture as a coach and a person."
Johnson most recently spent the last two seasons at Springfield College as a graduate assistant coach and worked with the wide receivers. The Pride went 16-7 over the past two seasons and reached the NCAA Second Round this fall, where they met Ithaca at Butterfield Stadium.
Before his time at Springfield, Johnson spent 2020 season as a special teams quality control coach at the College of the Holy Cross. Johnson also worked at Amherst College as an assistant wide receivers coach from 2017-2019, and graduated from UMass in 2020 with his bachelor's in sport management.
