Peyton Wingert has been named this week's Knoepfler Chevrolet Briar Cliff Athlete of the Week.

Wingert, a senior from Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, was a key cog to the Chargers wins in the NAIA National Tournament First and Second Rounds. Wingert averaged 15.5 points and 5.0 rebounds while knocking down 8-of-12 attempts from the 3-point line.

In Briar Cliff's 77-65 win over Missouri Baptist in the first round, Wingert scored 10 points, gathered three rebounds with two steals. She knocked down 2-of-4 attempts from beyond the arc.

Against the Warriors, Wingert put together one of her best games in the Blue and Gold jersey helping the Cliff to an 87-79 to advance to the NAIA Tournament Round of 16. Wingert was lights out from deep, connecting on 6-of-8 attempts from the 3-point line. Her six treys were the most by a Chargers in a single game this season. She went 3-for-4 from the free throw line and tallied seven rebounds and one block.

Wingert and the Chargers are back in action Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Tyson Events Center in the National Tournament Round of 16 against Indiana Wesleyan.
