'The Callum Davidson Flume' - call for slide to be named after cup winning boss's iconic celebration

A video of the gaffer stripped to the waist sliding across the champagne-soaked Hampden dressing room floor went viral this weekend after St Johnstone's historic Scottish Cup win over Hibernian

A light-hearted call has been made for a flume at Perth pool to be renamed after St Johnstone boss Callum Davidson - and it has not been ruled out by the council leader.

A video of the gaffer stripped to the waist sliding across the champagne-soaked Hampden dressing room floor went viral this weekend after the club's historic Scottish Cup win over Hibernian.

Copying the famous trick of German superstar striker Jurgen Klinsmann, Davidson can be seen in the six second clip uploaded by striker Stevie May on Twitter diving through shirtless as his players cheer him on.

And speaking on BBC Radio Scotland's Off The Ball Sunday Supplement, host Tam Cowan suggested a flume at Perth Leisure Pool be named after the McDiarmid legend in honour of the clip.

He told co-presenter and lifelong St Johnstone fan Stuart Cosgrove: "It was a brilliant brilliant celebration."

The PA put the idea to Perth and Kinross Council's leader Murray Lyle.

Perth Leisure Pool is currently close due to flooding and due to reopen in September.

But there are long-awaited plans to build a brand new swimming pool and ice rink in the Fair City.

Could the council's proposed PH²O building feature a Callum Davidson flume?

The Conservative leader said: "I thought the celebration was quite unique I have to say!"

He added: "What an achievement for everyone associated with the club. They should be really proud and should obviously be commemorated for their achievement - but who knows maybe they will get the treble next season!"

Cllr Lyle said he felt a more permanent commemoration would be more appropriate.

He said: "They deserve more than a civic reception. We will look at everything."
