LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lees-McRae softball team was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Tuesday by earning a cumulative GPA of 3.578, which was the 39th highest among NCAA Division II schools for the 2022-23 academic year. 16 Bobcats also were named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes for their achievements in the classroom.
Lees-McRae had a historic season in the spring with a program record in wins with 32 and the Bobcats also earned their highest finish in the Conference Carolinas regular season with a record of 17-7.
Grayson Buckner captured the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year with
Megan Powell and
Julie Gast joining her on the All-Conference Carolinas Second Team and All-Defensive Team, respectively.
To be considered for the recognition, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher for 2022-23 and 1,790 athletes from NCAA Division received the academic honor. To learn more about this academic award, click
