Five years ago today, Parliament was scene of chaotic shootout

While Canadians recover from the excitement of the federal election, five years ago today the mood on Parliament Hill was much different.

The attack began withMichael Zehaf-Bibeau gunning Cirillo down as he stood vigil at theCanadian National War Memorial. Zehaf-Bibeau the made his way to the Centre Block of Parliament before being gunned down in a shootout inside.
The following day, Bruce MacKinnon paid tribute to Cirillo:

On the five year anniversary of the attack, Cirillo was being remembered by groups throughout the country.
