CONWAY, S.C – Coastal Carolina softball head coach
Kelley Green announced the promotion of program alum
Amanda Daneker as the newest assistant coach for the Chanticleers program.
"Amanda's hard work, competency, and loyalty to this program have earned her this opportunity in our program," Green said. "Her contributions have already been substantial and I look forward to seeing the continued growth of our student-athletes on and off the field in her new role."
Daneker spent the last five seasons serving as the volunteer assistant coach, a title she held since August of 2018 – where she worked primarily with the hitters and catching defense. She was an integral part of the 2019 Chanticleer team that battled its way to the Sun Belt Tournament championship game against nationally-ranked Louisiana. Notably, she has coached five All-Sun Belt second-team selections and three 2019 Sun Belt All-Tournament Team honorees.
As a team, the Chanticleers finished the 2021 season with a .289 average and a .851 OPS. CCU tallied 234 runs, 345 hits, 58 doubles, seven triples, and 52 home runs. The Chants also drove in 219 RBIs.
"Amanda is more than ready to take on this expanded role in our program. The players love her and she helps create a positive atmosphere in the program," Green added.
The Williamsport, Pennsylvania native spent five years on the Chants softball squad (2014-18) where she was named second-team All-Big South and first-team Big South All-Freshman in 2014 when she hit .304 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs. In 2015, as a sophomore Daneker earned herself second-team all-conference honors as she hit .340, including .426 in Big South play.
Daneker earned her bachelor of science degree in exercise and sport science in May 2017.
