VIRTUAL BROWN BAGS
WHEN: Thursday, June 24, at 3 pm ET / 2 pm CT / 12 pm PT
PRESENTERS: Erin Roth and Dorothyjean (DJ) Cratty, Office of the DC Auditor
TOPIC: Special guests Erin Roth and DJ Cratty will share insights from the recent audit “Measuring What Matters: More and Better Data Needed to Improve D.C. Public Schools” and discuss the intersection between audit findings and RPP work, including creating data archives, building research and data governance capacity, and communicating about significant data quality issues and their impact on future research. This audit was required in legislation to create an RPP in the District of Columbia in order to identify the gaps between current D.C. data and the data needed for robust RPP work. The presentation will include the opportunity for audience discussion to share how others have navigated similar challenges in their RPP context.
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: As Director of Education Research at the Office of the DC Auditor, Erin is responsible for conducting and supervising audits of education-related programs in the District. Before joining ODCA in 2018, Erin has held positions at the Center for American Progress, REL Midwest, and the US Department of Education. She started her career in education as a kindergarten and Head Start teacher. DJ is Principal Investigator for the ODCA audit and consults for RPP grant programs and grantees as an independent researcher. She has previously held positions at AIR, where she lead the development of Rhode Island’s cross-sector Research Hub, at Duke University, and at the US Department of Education.
