Hudanick selected Academic All-American

CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams

CALIFORNIA (July 13) – California University of Pennsylvania senior offensive lineman Eric Hudanick (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) was selected a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Second-Team Academic All-American on Tuesday afternoon.

Hudanick becomes the 10th football player in school history to be named an Academic All-American, all since 2004. The Vulcans have featured at least one Academic All-American four times under head coach Gary Dunn, who enters his sixth season this fall.

A Seneca Valley product, Hudanick has started 22-straight games at right tackle since the 2018 campaign and ranks second on the team with 32 career starts. He has helped the Vulcans average over 33 points and nearly 400 yards of total offense per game during his career. Cal U has featured a 1,000-yard rusher in back-to-back seasons after it made the second of back-to-back NCAA Playoff appearances in 2017.

Hudanick was one of 20 players from NCAA Division II named a semifinalist for the 2020 William V. Campbell Trophy in the fall. Last month, he was voted a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for a consecutive season.

A 6-foot-3, 275-pound senior, Hudanick maintains a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average in graduate school while pursuing a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in management. He completed his bachelor's degree in December 2020 with a 3.51 cumulative GPA and a degree in business administration with a minor in finance.

Hudanick will be returning to the Vulcans to use his final season of eligibility in 2021.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials, but career statistics were used for the selection of this year's teams due to the majority of teams not playing in the fall of 2020.
