PUEBLO, Colo. (Feb. 7, 2021) – Former Colorado State University Pueblo football All-American Ryan Jensen is a World Champion. Jensen and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV Sunday after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9.

The Super Bowl Championship by Jensen marks the second consecutive year a former member of the ThunderWolves has won the Big Game.

Mike Pennel was the first former member of the Pack to win a ring, as he was with the Chiefs last year. He played Sunday for KC to mark a first for the CSU Pueblo football program, as a pair of former players were on the active roster in the same Super Bowl.

Jensen and Pennel went head-to-head on multiple occasions in the game with Jensen as the center and Pennel as an interior defensive lineman.

Jensen, a Fort Morgan, Colo. native, was a two-time All-American during his collegiate career (2009-12) and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2013. He helped lay the foundation for the program, which restarted in 2008 and won the NCAA Division II National Championship is 2014. Pennel, an Aurora, Colo. native, was an All-American selection in his lone season with the ThunderWolves.

Jensen started all 20 games on the offensive line this season. He completed his eighth overall season and his third as the starting center for the Buccaneers.

Pennel ended his season with 30 tackles in 17 games. Pennel is in his seventh NFL season and second with Kansas City.

This year's Super Bowl marked the third straight year the ThunderWolves had a former player on a roster of a Super Bowl team. Former defensive end Morgan Fox (2012-15) was on the roster of the Los Angeles Rams in 2019, but he was on the injury reserve all season and did not dress for the Super Bowl.

This year, four former players were on NFL rosters, as Deyon Sizer (2014-18) spent the season on the practice squad of the Denver Broncos.
