Lt. Governor Tressel and Stephen D. Dackin, Director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW), are encouraging families to explore programs available to help address the summer nutrition gap and ensure children receive healthy food when school is not in session.
"Summer should be a time for children to learn, grow, and enjoy time with family and friends, and good nutrition plays an important role in helping children stay healthy and active," said Lt. Governor Tressel. "We encourage Ohio families to explore the meal sites and resources available in their local communities this summer."
Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Tressel proclaimed June 1-7, 2026, as Ohio State Parks Week, celebrating the natural beauty, outdoor recreational opportunities, and award‑winning excellence of Ohio’s 76 state parks.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft manages Ohio’s state parks to ensure they remain accessible to all. With no entrance fees, visitors can freely enjoy hiking, camping, paddling, wildlife viewing, environmental education, and countless ways to experience nature across the state.
“Ohio State Parks Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate everything our 76 state parks represent,” said Governor DeWine. “These parks belong to all of us, and they offer every Ohioan a chance to connect with nature, spend meaningful time outdoors, and appreciate the landscapes that make our state special. We are proud of the national recognition Ohio’s state park system has earned, and we encourage everyone to take advantage of the activities and experiences available.”

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced the approval of eight projects that will create 1,618 new jobs and retain 1,835 jobs statewide.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. The projects are expected to result in more than $133.1 million in new payroll and generate more than $1.8 billion in investments across Ohio.
Governor DeWine announced that he will name Ohio Department of Public Safety Assistant Director Benjamin Suver to be the interim director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Suver replaces Andy Wilson, who becomes Ohio Attorney General on June 7.
"Ben Suver has held a number of important law enforcement positions for the state of Ohio including Assistant Director of Public Safety and Special Agent in Charge at the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. I am confident that Ben will be a great leader of this important department. Ben has a passion for making sure our citizens are safe and that law enforcement has the tools and skills they need to serve and protect," said Governor DeWine.
Lt. Governor Tressel visited the University of Cincinnati (UC) to observe ongoing demolition work at the Crosley Tower construction site.
The visit marked the fifth stop on his WorkOhio Job Connector Tour. The tour highlights training providers and employers to which WorkOhio can lead job seekers to as they look to take the next step in their careers.
“The work happening at Crosley Tower is exciting – not only because of the scale of the project itself, but also the opportunities it is creating for the University of Cincinnati and the Southwest Ohio region as a whole,” said Lt. Governor Tressel. “This project is just one example of how much demand there is right now for skilled workers in construction. These are exactly the kinds of opportunities we are looking to connect people to through WorkOhio.
“WorkOhio is about making sure people know these opportunities are everywhere in Ohio right now. We want to connect people who are looking to take the next step in their career with a team of local job experts who can guide them through one-on-one support to the job or training that’s right for them.”
Lt. Governor Tressel saw firsthand the great energy at the Cincinnati Reds game to celebrate another group of outstanding Team Tressel Fitness Challenge students! These young people have put in the work, embraced the challenge, and earned every bit of this recognition. Schools can sign up for the fall now!

Governor DeWine, Lt. Governor Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Mihalik announced more than $5 million in funding to support workforce partnerships connecting Ohioans with in-demand careers across the state.
A total of 22 workforce partnerships across Ohio will receive $5,065,368.46 through the Industry Sector Partnership (ISP) Grant Program. The collaborations focus on high-demand industries including manufacturing, construction and skilled trades, insurance, information technology, transportation, and healthcare.
“A strong economy starts with a strong workforce,” said Governor DeWine. “These partnerships are helping Ohioans connect with new career opportunities while ensuring employers have the talent they need to grow and succeed.”
"Great things happen when people come together, and Industry Sector Partnerships bring employers, educators, workforce leaders, and more to the same table to help Ohioans prepare for meaningful careers," said Lt. Governor Tressel. "We want it to be easier for Ohioans to discover opportunities, build valuable skills, and find a place where they can make a difference, and programs like this do that."

In alignment with the fraud prevention initiatives directed by Governor DeWine, the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) will take its first enforcement actions by suspending payments to 49 high‑risk Medicaid home health providers exhibiting potential red flags of fraud. The suspensions are made possible following an Executive Order Governor Mike DeWine to establish emergency rules to make the immediate suspensions feasible operationally.
Under the Executive Order, ODM is authorized to immediately suspend payments to providers whose billing patterns and data anomalies suggest a high probability of fraudulent activity. Using its newly upgraded data‑analytics tools, ODM has identified 49 home health providers whose billing patterns raised concerns, and those providers are now under review with payments temporarily suspended while investigations move forward
This action reflects Ohio’s commitment to protecting taxpayer dollars and safeguarding the integrity of Medicaid — particularly for services delivered through home health, hospice, and waiver programs. The suspension aligns with the broader strategy from Governor DeWine to:
- Enforce a six‑month moratorium on new enrollments for high-risk provider categories
- Require more frequent revalidation of providers identified as high-risk
- Accelerate the implementation of GPS-based Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) to better monitor in‑home services
Ohio’s comprehensive approach combines rigorous provider screening, real-time billing analysis, and interagency collaboration. These steps are designed to swiftly detect and disrupt fraudulent behavior. ODM will continue to monitor high-risk providers, enforce suspensions as warranted, and coordinate with state and federal partners to administer strong oversight.
This emergency rule, authorized through Governor DeWine’s Executive Order 2026-02D, was adopted to address needs identified by Ohio Medicaid in stopping fraud before payments are made. The previous process created the risk of service disruption for vulnerable Ohioans.
In honor of the life and service of Lorain County Administrator and former State Senator Jeff Armbruster, Governor DeWine ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio to be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Lorain County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes Tower from sunrise to sunset on the day of his funeral, June 7, 2026.

The Ohio Golf Trail celebrates Ohio’s rich golf heritage while encouraging visitors to discover the communities, attractions, restaurants, and outdoor adventures that make each stop unique. The guide also highlights major tournaments, golf festivals, and iconic destinations that have helped shape Ohio’s place in the game.
"Ohio is home to some of the finest golf courses in the country, and the new Ohio Golf Trail gives residents and visitors an opportunity to experience many golfing destinations across the state," said Governor Mike DeWine. "Whether you are a life-long golfer or picking up the clubs for the first time, this trail showcases some great golf courses for you and your family to enjoy."
"I've spent enough time around golf to know two things: first, Ohio has some great courses, and second, my wife Ellen is a much better golfer than I am," said Lt. Governor Jim Tressel. "Golf is a good way for families and friends to get outside and spend time together. I encourage you to check out what the Ohio Golf Trail has to offer!"
