The creative team behind one of Marvel’s most acclaimed titles of the last decade is reuniting for an exciting new project. Today, Tom King is known as one of comics’ best writers. King shot to fame with books such as Omega Men and Mister Miracle at DC, but it was his work on an Avengers icon that broke him into the mainstream.
Prior to launching a writing career, King interned for both Marvel and DC.
Launching in 2015, The Vision put a unique spin on the venerable Marvel character. The Vision had launched into the mainstream thanks to his appearances in Avengers: Age of Ultron and subsequent entries in the MCU. Therefore, it made sense for Marvel to have a title built around the Vision on shelves. However, fans picking The Vision’s first issue up were in for a treat: rather than focus on traditional superheroes, King and his collaborators, including artist Gabriel Walta, colorist Jordie Bellaire and letterer Clayton Cowles, instead decided to make the titular hero a family man.
The Vision met with instant critical acclaim, and opened up doors for its creative team, including Tom King. Even though The Vision only lasted 12 issues, it was enough to make an impression on fans, who lauded King as the “next big thing” in comics. From there, he would chart an impressive career at DC Comics, where he continues to largely operate. Now, King is reuniting with other The Vision alumni to bring fans a Hollywood murder mystery.
The Vision's Creative Team Reunites for the Decidedly Different Six of Us
Today, Dark Horse Comics announced Six of Us, a new six-issue series debuting this Fall. The project will reunite King with Walta, Bellaire and Cowles to tell the story of a shocking murder in Hollywood. Dark Horse’s synopsis for Six of Us reveals that a beloved actor dies under mysterious circumstances. In the wake of the tragedy, secrets come to the surface. In addition, Dark Horse has provided a handful of covers for Six of Us #1, including contributions from Jorge Fornes and Tula Lotay. Walta will provide the first issue’s main cover.
Six of Us will be Tom King’s second work at Dark Horse Comics. Previously, he collaborated with artist Bilquis Evely, who drew King’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, on the award-winning Helen of Wyndhorn. Outside of DC, King has also written creator-owned titles for Image Comics and Boom Studios. Since The Vision concluded, artist Gabriel Walta has drawn books such as Occupy Avengers, while Bellaire and Cowles have earned acclaim for their coloring and lettering work.

Six of Us Will Propel Its Creators to Another Level
Tom King has proven himself in the superhero genre time and again. Classic runs on titles such as The Vision, Batman and Wonder Woman have established him as a unique voice in the field, bringing heart and intelligence to everything he touches. King has also written titles in other fields too, such as romance in Love Everlasting or fantasy in Helen of Wyndhorn. Now, he is expanding into the mystery/noir genre. Noir is the perfect vehicle to explore fame and its destructive powers, as seen in films such as Sunset Boulevard.

Being reunited with Walta, Bellaire and Cowles, the team behind one of Marvel’s most underrated projects ever, is sure to push Tom King into new thematic and narrative territories. These creators brought their best to The Vision, and the book continues to find new fans and readers to this day. Six of Us will hopefully recreate the magic that made The Vision so special, and give comics fans an unforgettable murder mystery.
