Prahran Cricket Club is pleased to announce that current Men's Senior Assistant Coach Justin Graham will take over as Men's Head Coach from the 2022/23 season onwards.
Graham steps into the role vacated by Julien Weiner, who has called time on his coaching career with Prahran Cricket Club. Weiner was in the role for four seasons and oversaw drought-breaking premierships in the First XI and Second XI, while the Third XI and Fourth XI begin their 2021/22 finals campaign this coming weekend.
Prahran Cricket Club President Nigel Parsons said the club was excited to announce Graham as Men's Head Coach.
“We are very pleased to announce Justin into the Head Coach role, he has bought passion and a competitive spirit to the Club over the last 4 years and with the dedication, focus and passion for player development we believe he will continue to build on the successes the club has had over the last 3 years.”
Justin Graham is well known in Premier Cricket circles, spending 20 seasons with Melbourne Cricket Club and has clocked up over 300 matches as a player through all grades.
Before joining Prahran as a Senior Assistant Coach ahead of the 2018/19 season, Graham was the captain-coach of Kew Cricket Club for four seasons and was a Senior Assistant Coach in Melbourne Cricket Club's women's program.
Graham has developed a close bond with players in his four seasons at the club, his care and passion for player development has been a key factor in the club's recent success over the top two grades.
On his appointment, Graham said that the club would continue to play an exciting brand of cricket and look to build on relationships with the local cricket community.
"Julien has done an excellent job with the playing group, I've learnt a lot from him and will be looking to build on that platform, while also putting my own stamp on it.
"On-field success is always front of mind, but we also want to ensure that the club is an inclusive environment and we're attracting the very best talent because of the environment we've created.
"The club has been doing some great work in the community space and I'm looking forward to further developing relationships with the local and wider cricket communities.
Graham has shown his passion for the Prahran Cricket Club, its players and Victorian Premier Cricket, as well as outlining the importance of Premier Cricket being a breeding ground for First Class cricketers.
Michael Cove will continue as Justin’s Assistant and the committee will work with Justin on the remainder of the coaching structure to support him for the 2022/23 season.
