CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs announce the return of
Kevin Revis '13 to the Scenic City. The All-Southern Conference guard comes to his alma mater to take the reins of the offensive line. His history brings a lot of optimism to a room that has a blend of experience and exciting youth.
Revis spent the last eight years at Jacksonville State with the final six leading the offensive line after assisting efforts there in his first two campaigns. The results are staggering.
Â
He was a part of six OVC titles and FCS Playoff appearances. That includes the Gamecocks run to the championship game in 2015. His o-lines boasted 10 All-America mentions by various organizations. There were EIGHTEEN first team and 25 total all-conference nods, an average of better than three a year.
Â
His first two seasons after taking over as the lead offensive line coach produced a room loaded with postseason hardware. All five starters made All-OVC in 2016 AND 2017 with seven first team picks. In 2017, Darius Anderson, B.J. Autry, Tyler Scozzaro and Justin Lea made up four-fifths of the All-OVC first team with Cline, Lea and Scozzaro each making at least one All-America squad.
Â
"The thing I'm most excited about," Coach
Rusty Wright explained, "I've seen how he's developed offensive linemen. He was at Jacksonville State for a long time and won a bunch of ballgames there. He developed a lot of all-conference and All-Americans. That development is something we have to do at our level and continue to do.
Â
"Having him back as a stabilizing presence, a guy that really wants to be here…I really look forward to seeing him get in there and have an impact in that room."
Â
The Mocs return two of five starters in All-SoCon right guard
McClendon Curtis and right tackle
Colin Truett. Three rising sophomores
Brock Bethea,
Jeremiah Katt and
Reid Williams each have played a number of snaps already in their careers providing a strong core to go with redshirt and true freshmen looking to compete for jobs in the spring.
Â
Revis spent three seasons on the Mocs offensive line after transferring from Tennessee in 2011. He started all but one game over that time helping the 2013 crew capture a share of the first Southern Conference Championship since 1984.
Â
Thirty-two of his 33 career games at Chattanooga saw him rooted at right guard with one start at left tackle as a senior. He was part of the 2013 o-line that led the offense to its first 2,000-yard rushing season since 2005 setting the standard for units that followed that feat in five of the seven full years after.
