ULLC unites Detroit community members with university researchers to create inquiry-based solutions to challenges identified by the community. In particular, the partnership works to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline and to advance educational equity, fair discipline, and restorative justice in Detroit’s schools. Applications for Spencer Foundation’s Small Research Grants on Education are due Wednesday, September 1st!

From the program statement: “Our goal for this program is to support rigorous, intellectually ambitious and technically sound research that is relevant to the most pressing questions and compelling opportunities in education. We seek to support scholarship that develops new foundational knowledge that may have a lasting impact on educational discourse.”

The Small Research Grants Program supports education research projects with budgets up to $50,000 and ranging from one to five years.

PRESENTERS: Heather Leary, Jaynie Mitchell, Bryant Jensen, Gary Seastrand, and Tina Taylor, Brigham Young University – Public School Partnership
 
TOPIC: Heather Leary, Jaynie Mitchell, Bryant Jensen, Gary Seastrand, and Tina Taylor will share how the Brigham Young University – Public School Partnership is fostering RPPs through the university functioning as a broker to support the creation and sustainability of partnerships. The team will present design activities that help explore how universities can take on this role and strengthen the RPP field.
 

ABOUT THE RPP: The BYU RPP is formed by Brigham Young University’s David O. McKay School of Education and arts and sciences colleges and five public school districts and is working to improve school personnel preparation and PD.
NNERPP aims to develop and support RPPs in education in order to improve the connection between research, policy, and practice.
