Alexander Announces Power 5 Transfer Dudley Blackwell to Join Men’s Basketball Team

MORROW, Ga. – Clayton State men's basketball head coach Vince Alexander has announced the signing of Dudley Blackwell (Miami, Fla.) for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

Blackwell played one season at Iowa State during the 2020-21 campaign and will look to make an immediate impact when he arrives to Morrow.

"We are very fortunate to have Dudley commit to Clayton State," Alexander said. "He is an impact player and should help us tremendously. Our goal is to contend nationally, and he is the type of player that can help us get there. We are excited and we look forward to his contributions."

A former four-star recruit by ESPN and three-star recruit according to 247Sports and Rivals, Blackwell saw action in 11 games during his time with the Cyclones, averaging 9.7 minutes per game. He scored a season-best six points against Jackson State and had a season-high three assists against West Virginia.

Blackwell was also named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and was an ISU Scholar-Athlete.

The Miami native played a season-high 20 minutes against Oklahoma State. Prior to his arrival in Ames, Blackwell attended Huntington Prep in West Virginia and Somerset Academy Charter in Pembroke Pines, Florida where he was named first-team All-Broward County and helped the team to a pair of state titles as a freshman and sophomore.

He played for the USA Basketball 3x3 U18 team that captured a national championship and also played AAU for Nightrydas Elite.

Blackwell is the second player Alexander and his staff have signed this spring. He joins Bryce Weinmunson as future Lakers.
