WBCA THIRTY UNDER 30 HONOREES
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville University assistant women's basketball coach
John Leonzo has been named one of the 2020-21 WBCA Thirty Under 30 Honorees as presented by Morgan Stanley Global Sports & Entertainment.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game.
Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.
"I am so thrilled for John to be recognized in this way," remarked CU Head Coach
Kari Hoffman. "He has developed into such a great coach and teacher of the game with his knowledge and work ethic. I'm so thankful we get to do this together everyday."
Leonzo returned to Cedarville University as an assistant coach with the Lady Jackets in 2016-17.
He's played a key role in the program claiming three of the last four G-MAC regular season championships including this year. CU finished 19-6 and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championship.
The Harrisburg, Pa. native is the creator of
John Leonzo Basketball in which he ran his own camp clinics and workouts.
Leonzo is a 2015 graduate of Cedarville University with a degree in multi-age physical education. John and his wife, Lydia, reside in Cedarville.
