The University of Texas at San Antonio, Urban Education Institute! Partner organizations include The University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio Independent School District, and the CAST network. The Institute is to serve as a hub to prepare future educators, strengthen community partnerships, and raise the educational attainment levels and earnings of economically disadvantaged students in San Antonio.
 

HOUSTON EDUCATION RESEARCH CONSORTIUM EXAMINES BENEFITS OF SUMMER SCHOOL, THE ROLE OF COLLEGE PREP COURSES IN POSTSECONDARY ATTAINMENT, AND STUDENT ACCESS TO PRE-K PROGRAMS
 
In “
The Effects of HISD Summer School,” Jie Min examines the effects of attending Houston Independent School District (HISD) summer school by comparing summer learning rates of students who attended HISD 2016 summer school to learning rates of similar students who did not attend.
 
In “
The Role of College Prep Course Offerings and Course-Taking in Long-Term Educational Outcomes,” Brian Holzman, Kori Stroub, Camila Cigarroa Kennedy, and Bethany Lewis explore the distribution of college prep course offerings across Texas, how offerings are related to students taking these courses, and the association between college-prep course enrollment and postsecondary attainment.

Availability of and Equity in Access to HISD Pre-K Programs (Part I),” Erin Baumgartner, Courtney Thrash, and Luis Sanchez examine student access to Houston Independent School District (HISD) pre-K programs and the association between program location and equity in access.

Factors Related to Teacher Mobility and Attrition in Colorado, Missouri, and South Dakota,” Emma V. Espel, Stephen J. Meyer, and Jennifer L. Weston-Sementelli explore the teacher and school characteristics related to the likelihood of teachers moving to different schools or leaving state public school systems in Colorado, Missouri, and South Dakota.
 

EDUCATION RESEARCH ALLIANCE FOR NEW ORLEANS EXPLORES SCHOOL QUALITY
 
In “
How is New Orleans School Performance Evolving, and Why?”, Douglas N. Harris, Lihan Liu, Alica Gerry, and Paula Arce-Trigatti examine the effect of the New Orleans school reforms on school quality over time and potential drivers of those changes.

Lessons From Our Educators: Tennessee Educator Survey 2019 Results in Context” highlights some of the major takeaways from a state-wide survey of more than 45,000 Tennessee educators, with responses pointing to growth in several questions tracked over time, as well as some areas needing more attention.
