West Virginia's secretary of state offered a fact-check on a statement by President Trump during Tuesday night's debate. Trump said ballots were being sold in West Virginia.

Mac Warner said a county clerk found altered ballot applications -- not actual ballots -- and turned the case over to his office.

“The timely prosecution of election fraud in the 2020 primary election cycle in West Virginia shows that we take election fraud seriously, that the system we have in place works well. Voters should be confident that this election will be safe, secure and fair,” he said.

Warner noted the postal carrier who was accused of altering the applications pled guilty in July to federal charges.
