- 2018: DMD Diamond held a community vote, which approved the start of development of DMD v4. The goal was to build a completely new blockchain that is ready to be a pillar of future blockchain space, because it adds new layer1 features and smart contract abilities. DMD v4 was planned to replace the old network. Existing v3 DMD Diamond coins could be claimed at a 1:1 ratio for the new v4 version coins.
- 2019: DMD Diamond Blockchain released its first v4 White Paper as a PDF (since 2024, it has been hosted on a GitHub wiki and is constantly updated with information about the blockchain and its user guides).
- 2021: Open Alpha testnet for public testing/hardening; beta release candidate under development.
- 2023: Open Alpha2 testnet with added features for public testing/hardening; beta release candidate under development.
- November 2024: Code audit of claiming and DAO contracts.
- December 2024: Code audit of core contracts.
- January 2025–September 2025: Open Beta Testnet opened to the community.
- September 2025: Final Testnet is opened to the community.
- Since August 2024: Awareness campaign to increase visibility for DMD v4 after 6 years of low profile, focusing solely on development.
- Since September 2025: Preparations for the mainnet launch.
- October 4, 2025 – Deposits and withdrawals across all exchanges listing $DMD will be paused.
- October 6, 2025 – Snapshot of DMDv3: Only balances at the time of this snapshot will count towards your claim on DMDv4. Any activity after the snapshot won’t affect your new holdings.
- October 7–13, 2025 – Network startup phase: As the chain warms up, experienced beta users may be invited to join earlier, giving them a head start to earn validator scores.
- October 13, 2025 – Mainnet officially goes live!
- October 14, 2025 (or later) – Exchanges re-enable deposits and withdrawals once integration with the new chain is complete.
- Q3/Q4 2025: Release of multiple 3rd party projects on top of the DMD Diamond chain, such as uniq.diamonds and gladiators.diamonds.
- Q3/Q4 2025: Support by one or multiple multichain protocols like pantos.io.
- Q4 2025: Diamond Naming Service (similar to, but different from ENS),
- Q1/Q2/Q3 2026 : additional Services on to of DMD Diamond chain: including Diamond CSRC (censorship-resistant chat), representing an on-chain message board, and a DAO generator tool for 3rd party projects to easily set up a DAO on DMD Diamond.
Future goals and developments will be determined by community voting and participation through the DAO.

Its 2025 upgrade — DMD v4 — features true decentralization, on-chain governance, fast transaction times, low fees, low carbon footprint, security, interoperability, and smart contracts deployment. DMD v4 utilizes the world’s first blockchain with a cooperative HBBFT consensus supplemented by dPOS-based validator election. On top of that, DMD v4 is the first blockchain to implement a sustainable and endless reward mechanic with a low max finite supply of just 4.38 million coins.

Our core ecosystem dApp is https://ui.bit.diamonds. The key management part is 100% identical to Ethereum and other EVM chains, so many compatible systems are supported. Any key management tool that is WalletConnect compatible and supports custom networks can connect or interact with the DMD Diamond blockchain via the Diamond-UI, such as MetaMask, Brave, Trust Wallet, etc.

Stake on top of other validators or run your own node to support the network and earn Epoch (12 hours) rewards. Each validator receives an equal share of rewards for contributing to block creation, and then shares the rewards among themselves and their delegators.
