About

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Designated the Bengaluru International Short Film Festival (BISFF) as an official qualifying film festival for Live-Action. BISFF was conceived on a dream-fuelled evening and came to fruition with the strength provided by multi-award winner Prakash Belawadi. Prakash continues to be the festival mentor. The idea of BISFF was to create a platform for young and amateur filmmakers to screen their shorts to discerning audiences and, more importantly, find constructive and critical feedback from experts in the field.

An ant can carry 50x its weight. A short film can carry 100x its emotion.

We’ve got ants in our pants and films on our screens. This year’s BISFF is a packed parade of premieres, panels, workshops, and surprise pop-ups.

Testimonials
BISFF has been at the forefront of championing the most artistic short films being made everywhere in India. Being a culturally diverse and linguistically chaotic country it is very challenging to gauge quality with the same benchmark for films from any and all regions of India. As well as to ensure they rub shoulders with some of the best short films from across the world that year. But BISFF has done this with care, concern and an unflagging passion for the short film medium. It is without a doubt

BISFF was an amazing experience! Having attended a couple of film festivals before, BISFF left me pleasantly surprised with how well run & organised it was, in spite of the fact that it was a “shorts only” festival. We felt welcome. The communication was great before & through the festival. And we had a decent crowd as well. I don’t think short filmmakers could ask for anything more. Wish all festivals were run so well!

BISFF is a premier short film festival in the heart of the Silicon Valley of India. This is one festival I did not want to miss for the recognition, networking and visibility. This festival receives the best of short films from all over the world and having my film compete was a privilege in itself. During our first participation in the festival last year I had a fantastic time meeting like minded film makers , attending sessions and Panel discussions from Established filmmakers. The films which were selected showed the possibilities of filmmaking which would extend the participant’s creativity. I will make it a yearly ritual to attend and view the best short films, if not participate as a contestant.
