I am so grateful to work with Birth Day Presence for my Doula training and lactation class. I could not have been in better hands than Debra and Jada. Their knowledge, expertise, care, thoughtfulness, and passion are palpable. It has directly translated to my wanting to share these resources within my community. I highly recommend! Beware it lighting a fire inside.
I took the Birth Day Presence class with Jada and it was very informative. I'm a doula and needed this for certification but got so much more. Jada included another consultant, Amadoma Bediako, near the end of the class and it was awesome. I like that she did a true/false quiz which broke down everything even more. I also liked that she mentioned the stats when it comes to black women breastfeeding and that she talked about reasons for the disparity. Great class and a must if you're a doula or on your way towards one.
Every class I have taken with Birth Day Presence exceeds my expectations and I end feeling so inspired and empowered. I highly recommend whether you are a doula, birth worker or parent!

Talking about the ILFS integrative lactation feeding specialist training at Birth Day Presence with @manhattanbirth @tanyawillsmidwife who is bringing the program to Birth Day Presence starting Nov 17!! Join the next cohort! This lactation training is especially fantastic for Doulas who want to increase their capacity to help their Birth and Postpartum clients feed their babies. Not only will you develop greater confidence and knowledge, you’ll also be able to market yourself as a certified ILFS feeding specialist who is extra equipped to help in the early days of #lactation #bodyfeeding #breastfeeding #infantfeeding ! (The ILFS is a form of #certifiedlactationcounselor) This particular course is extra special and beloved by so many Birth workers. Tanya comes from her perspective as a #doula first who is also a certified nurse midwife and #IBCLC international board certified lactation consultant. Some of the sessions are live virtual (and recorded if you must miss) and some of the sections are pre-recorded. There are still some BIPOC/LGBTQ+/Disabled/Singleparent scholarship spaces. 👋 NEW YORK, ACT NOW TO ENSURE MIDWIFERY CARE IN ALL SETTINGS!
Why is midwifery care important to you? Get personal. Write a couple of sentences on why lifting these barriers to midwifery-led care matters to you! The regulations present an opportunity to address the maternal mortality crisis here in NY.
EMAIL COMMENTS TO:
regsqna@health.ny.gov
Attn: Katherine Ceroalo
DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS IS JULY 30TH!
e.g. TEMPLATE LETTER:
ATTN: Katherine Ceroalo,
The published Regulations for NYS Perinatal Care and Midwifery Birth Centers DO NOT assure that NY families will have access to high-quality, safe midwifery care in all healthcare settings, from homes, to midwifery birth centers. They are NOT aligned with the law signed by Governor Hochul in January 2022 (S.1414AM/A.259) to streamline the Licensure Process for Accredited Midwifery Birth Centers.
If not revised, the regulations will continue to make it nearly impossible to establish midwifery birth centers in NYS. The published regulations DO NOT support integration of midwives into the NYS health care system.
New York ranks behind 14 other states in its maternal mortality rate, and Black birthing people are five times more likely to die of a pregnancy-related cause than their white counterparts. NYS Maternal Mortality Review found that 78% of pregnancy related deaths were preventable. Midwives are a key strategy to reduce the unacceptable maternal mortality rate in NYS.
