Some Portraits

In this collection of bird portraits, I believe that the most compelling images capture birds in their natural habitats. However, I also appreciate the artistic value of portraits that showcase the unique characteristics of each bird.

Northern Hawk-Owl

The Northern Hawk-owl is a resident bird that I have only observed in proximity to my cabin in the mountains.

Hen Harrier

The Hen harrier, a medium-sized bird of prey belonging to the Accipitridae family, typically resides in Norway during the spring and summer months.

Long-Eared Owl

The Long-eared owl nests in the southern portion of Norway and refrains from migrating if it resides in the Oslo Fjord area.

Short-Eared Owl

The Short-eared owl nests in the mountainous regions and migrates to the southern hemisphere during the winter months.

Common Kestrel

The common kestrel, a small bird of prey, is renowned for its beauty. Its ubiquity extends across both sea level and mountainous regions.

Eurasian Hobby

The Eurasian hobby, a migratory bird, typically arrives in late spring and departs for Africa in late August, with the majority of its population departing by October.

Osprey

During the period of April to September, ospreys establish their nests in Norway, and some of these nests are situated in close proximity to my residence.

White Tailed Eagle

The white-tailed eagle is the largest bird species in Norway, surpassing even the golden eagle in size. Unlike the osprey, the white-tailed eagle does not dive into the water.
